Why would alts have to do anything? With that systems alts wouldn’t have to redo any rep activities you already did on your main.

No there isn’t. Make rep account wide with the option to replay story on alts
I think the issues are required grinds for basic power, they’ve backed off a lot but having to grind rep on a dozen or so characters to be baseline is very frustrating. Even focusing on a few I might have ground enough to be exalted on a couple of them but they’re spread out. It feels like punishment for running an alt but better than randomized legendaries.
I can see where the previous reps might have issues with a common pool, Bloodsail Admiral is a good example and some rep grinds are intentionally long. Maybe next expansion they can adopt a design that would allow a common pool of reps even if each alt contributes less to the total than if they were run on one character. At least I wouldn’t feel like I’m doing the same thing without actual gain.
Additionally, who the hell likes leveling fishing and cooking on multiple toons? How are these 2 professions not fully account wide yet???

Other than PvP, raid M+ and openworld stuff sure. Repeating the same grind over again hardly makes for great “content”, and there would still be plenty left to do. 
Just like BFA Pathfinder. Flying was unlocked on all toons once you completed it on one toon the rep should do the same.
They seem to be struggling to find a reward for the supply satchels (paragon rep) - I think rep tokens to give to alts would be a good compromise.
A paragon is roughly 3 renown (7500 if I remember right), so maybe 1 2500 rep token?
As to full blown account wide - I think they hesitate because of the rewards still associated with the reps.
- Early gear
- Profession recipes
They are reluctant to grant those things outight to your fleet of alts. I get it. The gear one a little less so, it is kind of irrelevant after the first 3 weeks or so, but the profession stuff I can sort of see.
Rep grinds are the only “barrier to entry” and so differentiator on professions.
That used to be true, but in DF most of the profession gating is in profession knowledge.
That crap should have been like trading post progression, day one.
I do agree with you. Knowing Blizz is trying to make it alts friendly by making it easier to gain reps. Maybe 1-2 alts are fine but for those players loves trying all classes will feel this is a game stopper. If reps are account wide it’ll be much easier to gear up for LFR and more encourage for players to try other class.
sorry but i don’t think mindlessly farming out old reputations is earning rewards. care to post on your account that has more than 95 achievment points so that we can see all of these rewards you are earning?
A lot of things should be account wide, yes.
They should make it so but leave quests open for alts to still do if the player wants to.
When it launched there were bugs which heaps of people exploited and Blizzard didnt bother punishing.
So they have been fully capped for a while.
