Blizzard isn't banning bots. Should I just buy gold?

Not good enough gph, plus is relies on having someone else farm with me which isn’t going to work considering when I farm it’s typically for long hours.

Furthermore, I quite simply should not have to go to this much trouble to get a blatantly obvious bot banned.

What exactly do you expect people “blaming the company” to entail? Because as long as you stay subbed, everything else is so much hot air.

Yup, not just bots too. Nothing was done about Mages boosting people back in classic, because we moved on to TBC fast enough that it wasn’t all that widespread. I guess your mileage may vary depending on the server, but it wasn’t common on either the PVE server where I had my first 60, or the PVP server where I had my second lv 60.

Well now it is widespread, and most definitely against the spirit of what classic wow was to be about.

Pretty sure when the original devs were designing this game, they were not intending for one class to AoE an entire instance, typically by exploiting bad pathing, and boosting everyone so fast, thereby drastically reducing the pool of players available for an actual group.

The onus is always on the service provider to provide end users with the experience they are paying for and to actively work against abuse, and never on the end user to enjoy that experience correctly.

Social forces aside, drug dealers don’t go away just because less people are buying drugs; there’s always going to be someone that will be in the market for a purchase, no matter what you or the collective does. This is exactly why (most) governments invest resources into policing and social services, and it’s exactly why other MMOs invest a lot of resources into community-building and game moderation.

To say this isn’t at least partly a player-created problem is incorrect, that I will agree on. But in the same way you can’t leave it up to society itself to solve drug abuse by telling them *WeLl jUsT dOn’t BuY gOld 4Head," you can’t just tell the community it’s up to them to just not buy gold. It’s 100% up to Blizzard to moderate its game. The problem isn’t just going to solve itself.

Soooo on frostmane, I just watched a dude use 8 bots to steal the entire herbalism market. Posted 5k units of elixirs and 7k of each flower and undercut everyone by 35-40% of the price. And We’re somehow supposed to make gold. Against competition that doesn’t have to follow the rules. He posted enough to freeze the market, and force non botters to drop their prices or just not sell.

They do ban bots. Not even CLOSE to as actively or quickly as they can and should, but they do, occasionally … however they dont seem to do anything to people buying gold, dumping it into GDKPs, inflating the economy like crazy, so in that sense they dont seem to care. Gotta admit, it does certainly make you wonder, “should I buy gold too?”

This is a dumb thing to post. Right up there with people who posted selfies of themselves stealing from the Capitol Building back in January.

you should 100% buy goild, anyone who doesnt at this point is a chump

Just lvl a mage to 60 and stand outside one of the lower lvl dungeons for a while. I promise you’ll get whispers and your gold problem will vanish.

Um, yes we do. If gold gets flooded into an economy by bots, the economy gets inflated to the point anyone not buying gold is priced out of the market. Economics 101.

If a Blizzard employee went postal & suddenly mailed 100k gold to everyone EXCEPT you, you’d never be able to afford anything on the AH ever again unless you went out of your way to get him to mail you gold too. Now replace mailed gold with bought gold and maybe you’ll start getting a clue.

Economics 101 also tells you that if there’s a lot of coin in an economy then it’s easier to get coinage. I’ve never bought gold and I have a lot. So don’t tell me you have to buy gold because everyone else does. That’s a steaming pile of tauren :poop:

So no. You absolutely do not have a foot to stand on if you buy gold and criticize Blizzard for how they handle bots.

You cannot have a negative opinion about this company on their forums that IS TRUE. They will shut your thread down and ban you for a week.

all he would have to do is start farming herbs and ore. especially if everyone except him has 100k, that means him selling 1 black lotus would probably be like 2k, a stack of ghostmushrooms, 500g. 100 stacks of ghost mushrooms? 50000. Hed be disadvantaged at first but hed catch up after putting some time into it. iv probably sold close to 100 stacks of ghost mushrooms myself. problem is iv also been doing naxx since it released and consumes leaves me basically at zero income.

There should be a warning on gathering professions, “unless this toon is a bot, this profession will be useless at max level”

That’s like asking people to act mindfully in a pandemic, it just doesn’t happen because all communities have isolated morons that ruin the party for everyone. I’m willing to bet that the majority of the playerbase earns gold through legitimate means, but it only takes a handful of bad apples spending a few hundred bucks on dirty gold every few weeks for this to be a profitable activity.
