Blizzard is SWIFTLY KILLING off Healers in M+

I heal 20s and it’s the group that is what is stressful, not the mechanics of the dungeon nor the key level. I’ll have groups where I will stop and post details of interrupts/stuns and call them out. I can’t heal if people can’t or won’t do something so simple that makes a huge difference. Some groups are just so funneled on their damage they won’t stand in my barrier and I’ll grip them in.
All that aside, the higher the key (normally) the more competent the group is. I love healing and as long as the team acts like a team the keys get timed no issue.

The ground barrier is the reason I’m afraid to commit to my Disc priest, as silly as that sounds.
Resto has Efflo that has to keep the ground circle down and people pretend it doesn’t exist. I wish they would stop doing ground circles, that is like my number 1 wish for healers, stop with the ground circles.

Healers don’t have a reason to do keys bro. They are already geared by now. Way too many groups vs amount of healers.

They will just leave a key if it can’t be timed and instantly get invited to another group

It can be stressful, but most fights are surprisingly low effort for healers if the DPS and tanks do their job. I tend to go into Tyranical boss fights w/ out drinking at all because I have a net gain in mana by the end from just pumping DPS.

Listen just give me a Mage healer spec and I’ll do it for you.

Edit: Also willing to accept Warlock

weren’t healers complaining that they only wanted to heal and not do anything else? I guess this is the point where you say “you think you do but you don’t”

So I’m a returning player, (been gone since Cata), I’ve just recently hit 70 and am doing fine healing in heroics, is there a large jump in skill/stress when moving towards M+? Should I be afraid?

We wanted to matter and now we do to the point where we can wipe the group if we mess up (unless you’re one of those 4dps top skill homies). Healers should be happy. I am. Still find time to try to DPS too.

I think most wanted to spam slow heals on tanks instead of actually managing mana and rotating CDs in what ends up being a several minute Tyran fight.

Honestly I’ll be into not being able to just jump around and holy nova things to death instead of healing on most pulls.

No. Honestly if you start off in low keys you’ll have the addition of Mythic mechanics, but the intensity really won’t be that much higher than what you’re used to. More to do, but nothing should one shot you.

While you’ll def find time for some Nova spam, it def reaches the point where you need more than that to heal up people taking spellbolts, tank busters, bleeds and such. Nova can also be quite mana taxing so further on when the healing need is more intense that is something to consider.

You won’t even notice initially. Like, low keys might as well be heroic dungeons with a 40 minute timer.

I’ve been back playing wow for about a month now and I can say that after learning the fights I can go very long periods w/ out having to heal in a dungeon or raid. I find myself pumping damage much of the time. There’s very few fights that require much if any healing at all, as long as DPS and tanks do mechanics properly.

The only thing that sucks is I’ll be nuking the DPS rotation on my Holy Priest and only do like 30-60k single target on a boss and maybe up to 200k on AOE pulls. I feel like our damage needs a solid buff so the button pressing feels worthwhile.

I used to be a really good healer. I had tanks that would not do content unless I was healing them.

But over the years I have seen many things that Blizzard has done to hurt my chosen spec.

So I stopped healing groups.

So instead I just use my Holy Spec to quest and that is it.

Thanks Blizzard.

Lots of good input here. Hopefully Blizzard takes some it to heart,

Not this healer. I’ve had an absolute blast this season and I hope the trend continues into next season. Does it suck that my alts have a harder time getting keys done when I am not healing? Absolutely, but, I also haven’t felt the desire to play my alts nearly as much because for the first time in I don’t know how many season I am having an absolute blast healing.

Healing this season has simply weeded out all the people who rolled healers for quick queues. Sucks to be them. I know I am not alone in having an absolute blast healing. The dungeons are not stressful; the only part that makes them stressful is Joe Blow Huntard who stands 41 yards away from the entire group, or Jane Doe DH who thinks Blade Dance lets them ignore mechanics. 94% of the “stress” on healers comes from the rest of the group, not the dungeons. If people actually play decently, the dungeons themselves are not bad. My favorite bosses to heal are the worm in Nelth’s Lair and the 3rd boss of HOI, because of the strict healing requirements. It feels like I actually have a challenge outside of contributing mediocre dps and spot healing people who don’t have any semblance of situational awareness. lol.

Almost all of my healers have KSM (except monk, because I have lost any interest in playing my monk) and two of them almost have KSH and I exclusively PUG.

I would just go Holy Paladin and your problems are solved:

I’m right there with you. Been having a blast. Haven’t done many keys since I got KSM due to it being summer and I’d rather be outside. But the healing this season is actually engaging and provokes planning of CDs and mana management.

That i understand. but why is it so?
