Blizzard is Hiring!

I have become very pragmatic on all it. Only thing that matters (in this context) for me is whether WoW survives and it keeps any worth to play, and hopefully Jaina and Sylvanas don’t become bowls of fruit. All else… they firing, hiring, whatever… I don’t care any more. Sincerely fed up with their shenanigans.

And I know I said practically the opposite, recently. What can I say, getting fed up with stuff is not always a long, gradual process. Sometimes it takes just a couple “triggers”.

Blizzard’s been hiring for a very long time it seems.

Adequate pay and treatment could do wonders…

who wants to be treted like crap and overworked for little pay!!!

Yeah…

It didn’t help to hire their vaunted and publicized equality specialtist as a show of better times, who’d have access to peoplesoft (or other HR app options) to see how equal pay is…then she finds out how she made versus others in the company.

Smooth move, ez-laz a comment that comes to mind there really.

Doing that to exec level peeps…can’t imagine what they do to the troops in the trenches. pretty sure they can’t even talk about salaries as per some clause in sub section A of section F of part 25 of the paperwork HR had them sign.

They’ve been hiring for a few months now. They keep the positions open but they’ve hired a lot of senior devs

I doubt they’d hire you anyway so don’t worry

yeah because they’ve been hemorrhaging employees like an open wound for a while now.

Accordig with many ex blizz devs on twitter (and i hate myself for even mentioning) thats probably the case.

If its this, then it looks like theyre getting ready to introduce what seems like a mostly new team. Which could be really good…unless the new team takes this thing in a completely different and terrible direction.

That’s fine. I wouldn’t serve anyway.

What major business isn’t hiring right now?

everywhere i go, it's like there's a shortage of people. I can't pass a business that doesn't have "for hire" on the sign. Also, ghosting employers is apparently really bad in our area

I’d rather work at Wendy’s.

They are savage on Twitter.

I might actually have a fairly decent job in about a week so… I’m good… perfectly fine being just an NPC…

I heard the janitor position opened. With that being said, its only a matter of time before everything overflows and down the drain we go.

hiring interns to be paid less than mcdonalds and easily terminating them without any compromise , of course everyone will apply.

You really missed out on quite a bit if this comes as a surprise. Considering the lawsuits, they’ve likely fired quite a few people and with all that drama happening inside the company many people have even outright quit. That said, the game development industry has a seriously high turnover rate in most companies. Can’t remember the exact percentage but it’s supposedly the highest in all the tech industries.

The layoffs in 2019 were mostly esports, PR, publishing ,marketing, and some CMs. All front facing folks needed to interact with customers and viewers.

They pledged to hire a lot more of the makers and creators of all stripes to double down on development of games. That push was hurt by the pandemic of course.

Lawsuits and all that in the gaming industry don’t help, nor does the low pay and crunch culture. A lot of people have re-evaluated what they want. Dream job… or job with great pay, that lets you live in an area you want, and have a decent work life balance. Many are now going for the second.

Long ago I decided not to ever apply to Blizz. I am now retired, but I had good reasons.

  1. Cost of living in CA is insane. Pay compared to what things cost is not good.
  2. My parents are elderly and all my family lives on the opposite coast from CA
  3. Commuting. I hate it. CA roads are also scary as heck. Been there. Done that. Hate that. Not as bad as some other metro areas, but pretty bad.
  4. I own my own home, car paid off, no debts. I want to keep it that way.
  5. Mangers and corporate culture. No matter the company, they all have it. I don’t handle too much authority well. I get pretty upset with corporate decisions but at least when I don’t work there I can freely say what I want, within reason.
  6. Having to do set tasking takes all the fun away from chatting on the forums or gaming at my OWN pace.

Corporations and I are rarely friends… retirement is good.

I don’t hate the gaming industry. I think it just needs to grow up quite a bit and improve working conditions.

Concern trolling is a thing, calling the kettle black here.
