I don’t understand where people get the notion it’s like vicious saddles. Cutoff + old meta achievement KSL/KSM mounts are nothing like vicious saddles?
You literally get a saddle that allows you to exchange for the previous seasonal mounts.
The difference is that those weren’t listed as going away and there was always conversation about those potentially coming back.
However, I DO think if this is popular it may lead to the reintroduction of elite sets.
Pardon my ignorance, but has this always been a thing? Was this ever mentioned anywhere, because I’ve always assumed the KSM/KSL mounts were a one and done deal per season.
I’ve always held the opinion Blizzard will eventually do this, it’s just a matter of if not when (even if I’m completely opposed to the idea). Personally, what annoys me the most about this though is the introduction of the 1%/Umbral champion title/mount with this change.
There will be an increase in activity as people will push for that title/mount and I’m sure some disingenuous egg-heads will say people are umm akshually doing more M+ because they can get access to old rewards etc. Oblivious/obvious sleight of hand…
Brother just because it’s a saddle doesn’t mean it’s the same system. Are you serious? I don’t need the eli5.
Since when have we ever believed the ksm / KSL mounts were going to be obtainable again?
Since when did any saddle require the 3400+ cutoff (above the 3k meta achieve)? Since when did they explicitly state “old rewards”?
It’s “literally” an entirely different system, playing sub 1300 cr games for a ground mount != playing above historical thresholds by a wide margin to be eligible for historical meta achievement mounts. The sole thing that is the same is the choice of the word, “saddle” as opposed to “token”.
With respect, anybody who can pass the mirror test could see this coming from a mile away years ago. Blizzard has toyed with this idea plenty and I doubt we’ll see any meaningful pushback because the PvE population is so large.
For what, glad mounts?
Yeah tell that to everyone who argued that this wouldn’t happen / occur.
Feel free to tell them “I told you so” on my behalf.
When they first came out in dragonflight, there was a Bluepost that said “they would be seasonal with no plans to be obtainable after the season at this time, but they *would* revisit that at a later date”
What’s annoying about this?
I love this change!
I think the intention is to transition it directly to the saddle system, though, because it’s almost directly comparable in terms of difficulty/participation. Also PVErs were complaining that pvpers could get saddle mounts, while they couldn’t. It’s been one of the hottest and most contended topics for YEARS because the 90% playerbase casual mount farmers want the saddle mounts, but don’t want to farm them, which led to similar conversations about the KSM mount.
Dragonflight.
Saddle acquisition likely mirrors KSM mounts (1400 cr pvp comparable to 2k io).
I don’t think it is?
I think that the ksm mount has been equivalent to the vicious saddle mounts for a while, and they’re adding a “gladiator” mount for the 1% as a new reward.
Damn turns out I was wrong and forgot it’s 2k for KSM and 3k for KSL.
I’d say 2k is probably similar to 1k cr (which I think is where it begins)? I do think that there’s a clear difference between the thresholds though.
Interesting, I’ve been out of the PvE game a bit but surprising to hear PvE players cry about PvP player rewards. If this is so well known, why is it locked so high? 3400 io to pick a 2k mount? That’d be like 2400+ for an old elite set?
I see, okay.
Turns out I did need more explanation, thank you!
Sorry to clarify (what I get for shooting from the hip when I post):
- I like the 1% Umbral Champion Change ( I may even try for it, my friends have been doing M+ as of late)
- I can see this as a staging ground of sorts by using justification of increased M+ participation to roll out previously unobtainable rewards in other parts of the game (like the warlock above mentioned, hoping they do this in PvP too for I assume glad mounts?)
Not against adding more more titles and increasing the stratification of skill into more ranges with more rewards etc. but I can see this being used to justify re-introducing old rewards because of the increase in M+ participation being linked purely to old rewards being on the table.
Yeah, it’s hard because they don’t translate 1:1 and obviously you cant lose M+ score while you can lose CR.
However, 2k is the reward for finishing most dungeons at a +10 (can have 1 or 2 8/9s) which is the point at which you get all the affixed (or when mythic plus actually “starts”).
3k is 12s, which is where you get a meaningful time penalty for dying and the “helpful” affix goes away, which is closer to 1800.
Pvp gets more “unique” rewards than pve does, because it has access to all the pve recolors as well as unique ones. Also, pvp gets TWO mounts, an enchant, and unique weapon skins.
Pvp has always gotten the same, if not more, rewards than individual pve areas which REALLY fries the casual playerbase.
They actually talk about this in the article, but that threshold will change season to season.
This is the EASIEST M+ season we have ever had by far and we’re still missing literally ~15-20 ilvls. 3400 by end of this season will be like getting 1800 in blitz.
IO right now is TWW S1 Blitz rating.
I think the biggest thing to consider with changes like this is the longevity component.
While it will undoubtedly increase participation for 1 or 2 seasons, will it lead to increased participation over time?
All I’ve heard is BrM actually farms every other tank in m+. Really just a monk season it seems like.
Brm is absolutely cracked for keys and it’s not even close
This will forever be the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard. I had my time to flex with a given mount. No one else cares that I’ve got old achievements, so why should I? If I want to keep flexing, I should keep earning new achievements. And the fact that 3400 is the threshold makes this a proper flex. Why not reward that level of effort?
Is there a reason you’re being so incredibly hostile over his post?
See thats all cool and stuff.
But when will we be able to use weapon illusions on guns, bows, and crossbows LOL
I fear that if you see any grind / achievement in game that come with a title or a mount as a flex you have some bigger issues to deal with.
interesting. now will they do the same for glorious tyranny? or no?
and a majority of the wow players who do have them our no longer playing this game or dead or just dont care lol i say bring them back. us casuals deserve all the free rewards. ![]()
also keep in mind that without us casuals you all dont get any MMR injections. ![]()
Good to see you’re still playing homie, og fr
