grow up
I’m not an addon developer, but I’m a big fan of ui customization, and a huge non-fan of ridiculous people who think addons are cheats.
the game was intentionally built to allow us to use addons. blizz supports it.
I don’t care if you’re a non-fan you’re an addon user LOL. Engage with logic and reason, not feelings.
Please respond to this part that you ignored though:
Read the article. It says that they can flag any ability with the private aura code. Can be a bolt cast by a random trash mob, can be anything. There is no limit to what spell icon this flag can be applied to.
They could easily just apply it to every single dungeon/raid ability cast by an npc. Why wouldn’t they? Why shouldn’t they? Tired of not being able to participate with worse players because I don’t use dbm and they do.
Yeah they are. Talking popcorn and melted butter, for what? They don’t know…but they are pretty sure they certainly do. ![]()
I can’t imagine my life being so empty that I make a hate stroke thread about how other people choose to play a hobby that doesn’t affect other people.
I can’t imagine my life being so empty that I have to use addons to get by in WoW.
Funny how little both of our opinions matter in these two specific posts.
Yes yes Darby. We’re more than used to your way of thinking.
And soon it will be the way of the game. Not just an idea, but the reality.
Sure thing Darby.
I think it depends on how they look at it. Examples off the top of my head from last expansion would be Among Us and Fatescribe. The time constraint on those mechanics made it incredibly impractical trying to figure things out with 20 people in voice.
If you had “infinite” time to figure out whodunnit on Lords of Dread the WA wouldn’t have been “necessary” but that simply wasn’t the case.
Everything will fall back into its place eventually. The heroic raiders that belong in LFR will fall back to where they belong. It will be unbecoming, but it will be necessary for this game to move forward longterm. Eventually all addon abusers will literally be too old to play mmo or pass on to the next existence, and then what? Nobody new to these games actually enjoys addon upkeep. It’s lame and pedantic.
I don’t think Mekk would’ve been touched. That mechanic was arguably easier in voice than LoD since at most you had 2-4 people talking at once. Not 20.
I feel like most non-PUG groups didn’t use a WA for Mekk and even some PUGs just hopped in a disc on heroic for one boss. I even learned colors in spanish for that fight for a random heroic PUG one week.
You still have that. It’s called not playing with Addons.
And honestly, i don’t know why people wanting the game to be changed in order to not have addons, because they subjectively think “it needs to be played in the intended way”. You think them being good players without Addons, they wouldn’t even care about addons at all, and yet…
Weak auras does WAY more then just throw up spell alerts on your screen. Just saying that banning a tool in it’s entirety for over one (or a few if you must) out of many functions it has, not even for raiding or dungeons or PvP mind you, is a little silly.
This guy honestly thinks addons are like playing splitscreen on a game console on a 4:3 TV and looking (which is inevitable, but i guess he forgot his logic breakfast that day) at the other player’s screen is cheating.
Is that a problem with people getting better and getting a better reaction times?..
I mean, as i’ve said before, if people don’t want to use addons, then don’t use them.
If it helps, you can think of the addons as training modes.
Because I can’t progress due to players requiring me to install addons to get invited or for them to apply to my group?
Why wouldn’t I complain about the game no longer having any value to me because of a third party addon being demanded by the players for participation? It’s one thing if you want to use them yourself as an individual, but it’s problematic when people are barred out of progression due to addons. I don’t know how out of touch you people can possibly be, but it’s pretty far out.
I want to subscribe to this game and play it again, but why would I? +18 keys are so easy I could do it 1 handed most of the time, and +19 is impossible to get invited to without raiderio.
Why would I waste my time being gatekept? I log in, try to get a group for 30 minutes to an hour, log out and uninstall.
Fact is, you don’t know what you’re talking about even remotely. You don’t play m+. Why are you even talking about addons? Did they make a DBM suite for elemental storms?
RaiderIO doesn’t depend on you. Like I agree content is “gatekept” in pugs too much for the subjective difficulty and “realistic” item level and scores it takes, but you not having RaiderIO does nothing to increase or decrease your chances to get into a run since your score is public knowledge and displayed to those with the addon whether you consent or not. At most, you can decouple your main and alts on the site so each toon is judged on their own score alone.
Push higher, make your account data private from raiderio on battlenet, try to get into +19 keys. Tell me how it goes.
You’re not there yet. Like sure, I could find groups if I was really lucky or waited over an hour every single time, but nah. I’ll just play better games while I wait for blizzard to sort out this mess the players have made for them.
you can if its a blue post also they have been saying this for years.
As long as they don’t add insane mechanics that need addons to solve them next tier, this will be a good thing long-term.
My worry is in 6 months we’ll get an Ion interview “uh yea, maybe the fight taking 900 pulls for echo needed to be tweaked a bit.”
The group positional mechanics are a problem.
Musical Chairs with a couple a people with lag, they start playing the, “No, me first” game and blow up the raid.
Thundering is a good example as well, How often are you running past people and have to do a little dance to remove it?
