Blizzard doesn't want to make reputation account-bound likely due to $. But they should. Here is why

Yeah, this right here. That MoP bonus was the best idea they’ve ever had for meeting in the middle. I will say, Wrath had the best setup. I was revered on most of my characters just playing the stories, and there were useful gear for leveling characters to use. I mean, exalted is friendly+honored+revered in one rank. That should be enough grind for Blizzard, on multiple characters.

Remember when we were able to just equip a tabard and do dungeons and get exalted with certain factions (or just doing dungeons and getting rep without needing a tabard)?

The glory days.

Actually the opposite. Account bound reputation would be balanced around having 8 characters working on the reputation and would then be really grindy. “I have to level 8 character to max in the first week, have all of them do dailies for faction X so I can buy the ilevel 125 epic leggings to be ready to raid” would be a really poor direction for the game.

Actually, the opposite. Account bound reputation would be balanced around having as many characters as you want working on the reputation you want and would then be really free choice. “I have to level as many characters as I want to max in the whatever week I want, have however many of them I want doing dailies for faction X so I can buy as much ilevel 125 epic leggings as I want to be as much ready as I want to raid” would be a really good direction for the game.

I like it as well…

I still use the org one on all new toons, to lower mount training costs.

You and I differ in opinion on whether blizzard would give up their time gating on the reputation. If one character gains 1000 reputation a day for a faction today that would turn into each character being limited to 125 reputation a day under shared reputation. The time gate would remain.

“Realism” is hardly an excuse when a nightborne player can play through all of the past expansions, belonging to the horde, while simultaneously not existing. Same with all of the allied races really.

The issue is when recipes or other items are locked behind reputation gains, so instead of playing the character you want to play you have to play the character that needs the rep to unlock the recipe you want. And that often means you have to do certain other steps first to even unlock the reputation grind.

There is well over 100 different reputations available in the game. And many of them have recipes or gear locked behind them. At least the pet and mounts earned are account-wide. But if I am already exalted with one character with a group, why should I have to grind another character to exalted just to unlock the one recipe I need?

Past stupidity is not a very good rationale for being stupid again.

Who says it would? They could easily cap the amount of rep your account can get in a week.

Just give a massive rep boost to alts…like 500%

I honestly have one rep character (even if I don’t like playing it anymore) and avoid most rep grinds with alts because they often feel pointless. The only time I will do a grind with an alt is because of professions.

A 1st level gnome being exalted with SW or Org is non-sensical.
The game is still heavily character focussed.

You are not going to get everything you want.

Or more likely, just the single highest rep level would count. Not adding them all together.
