Except it wasn’t. That’s just normal open world content. It’s not a progression pillar of increasing difficulty.
It may be fine for you and we still have that stuff. But others wanted a real progression pillar.

this is the pvp premade argument - except they’re not playing against you, they’re just playing.
Who the flub are you calling Poors and Mole people?
That’s rude.
anyways, I was one of the people that wanted delves, and I freaking love them! I love the challenge I love being able to take my time. I may not be gearing as fast as M+ Benny or Mythic Raider Molly but meh. That’s okay.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
They also become obsolete the moment M+ comes out.
I’ve written Delves off already and it ain’t even out yet lol. I would rather farm Crackling Shards for this mount and show up to Normal raid in whatever rags I have on me from Heroics and Renown. M0 doesn’t drop loot, you need to run about 1000 of them to gear your character.
If I’m gonna grind mindlessly, might as well be for a mount that permanently stays with me. At least I feel powerful while doing it also. This other content doesn’t make me feel powerful, it makes me feel like a clown begging for heals, while everything with snap AOE does 5 mil dmg the moment the tank touches them.
Only if you know… you want to do M+ and group content. But like if you don’t and you like to do crap by yourself because reasons. Delves freaking rule.
Was for me. And plenty of others probably. Always people around doing them.
and all that is still there!! Now we just have a nice middle ground for people like myself that wanted something a little more challenging for people like me too, and if you want to join in you can, and if you don’t that’s cool my moose friend! No one will judge you! Do all the open world stuff like in DF it’s all still there!!
The sooner the better
My main concern with Delves in the long-term is that they didn’t model them more on the Mage Tower.
I think trying to make an end-game progression pillar that’s soloable, doable in groups and “spec agnostic” is a bit unrealistic. I think when you try to cover such a broad spectrum with a single system, you’re liable to not properly service any of it.
Mage Tower would have likely suffered similar issues if its challenges were set up in the same way. I think part of the success Mage Tower saw was because there were variations in the challenges that were designed for, and assigned to, each spec.
I wonder if Delves would be better served being solo-only and with variations that change depending on the role of your spec. DPS specs face a challenge that feeds into their strength and so on (tank specs have to manage things like threat and healer specs face a challenge more centred around healing throughput etc.). Essentially Mage Tower, just without it being broken down as far as DPS specs having specific challenges they’re assigned to - with gear progression included.
Obviously it’s early days for Delves and I’m enjoying them thus far. But I do have some concerns when it comes to them as an evergreen system for the long-term. Part of that is them only really having a single “boss” while the rest is trash, as there’s generally only soo many mechanics you can jam into a trash pack before it becomes overwhelming (especially for a single player alone), which has the result of both potentially being unengaging on repeated playthroughs as well as providing less levers for tuning beyond just amping up damage and health.
Farm mount, see if guild falls apart, if not, raid, if it does, unsub after I get the mount.
Yes they would have, it’s not even up for debate. They are dead in the water. Also they give duplicate pieces of loot. I mean I can’t think of a bigger waste of time in the long term.
Mole people? What do the Niffen have to do with this? Lol
Hopefully they will add some stuff like it to this expansion eventually. I’ll say the same as what has been said to me about delves. Don’t like it don’t do it.
So I still fail to see why we’re arguing here.
Seems to be just fine, imo. It’s not spectacular content, as it’s just Horrific Visions 2.0… but it’s got 8 tiers that increase in difficulty, three tiers of challenge and then two more tiers for the real bragging rights.
I think with different followers each season it’ll be fine. Dungeons are basically in the same boat with mechanics and bosses. There’s only so much unique you can do.
No, because then it leaves friends out of hanging out together. It’s meant for casual players, solo players, and as Holly Longdale said, families who want to run with each other.
LOL what are mole people?
Shy soloists?
Oh but I do like Open World stuffs. Anything I can solo I like.
It’s pretty hard to design something around two things.
Palace of the dead is way easier in a group vs solo.
In fact it’s probably more balanced here in ff14 certain classes are even at an advantage over in that content .
“Hey guys, lets design a “solo” thing, advertise it for solo players, but lets actually make it 5 man. Okay now lets make it to where it’s like playing Tic Tac Toe for some classes and then lets make it be like learning Chinese Calculus for others, sounds very high quality amirite?”
This is way better than the chain-CC that could happen in horrific visions.
I haven’t had a mask spawning an enemy that horrified on top of me, triggering running, causing me to run into a split personality, which let to wandering in place during burning bridge, then immediately getting chain polymorphed, causing more wandering in place with burning bridge while also taking damage from the slow moving projectiles because I couldn’t control my character.
Firstly I’m one of your “poors” or “mole” people which btw is an incredibly rude thing to call people. I am enjoying the delves have not said they are too hard. Stop trying to group people together and use that as some sort of psuedo evidence that there is a problem.
Second, We don’t know the situation those complaining happen to find themselves in as far as you know there is legiitment balance issues based on class or spec. It’s not like people havn’t seen issues in your precious raids and mythic+'s in the past and called for better tuning.
Lastly, maybe you need to take a short break because it appears to me the only enjoyment you get out of this game is trying to make other people feel bad. Perhaps you are pushing a perception of yourself onto other people? Because that clearly isn’t what a “Good” or someone with adequate social skills would do.
Welcome to the world of progression where classes are not balanced, the meta exists and you have to try and put effort in.
