Blizzard Creating Polls For Subbed Players Above A Certain Level In Classic

Lol, considering most of the “tourists” are from Refail…just lol…

I guarantee you, next to no one who has subbed just for Classic is here for a 1 month sub, as opposed to players who are here just because its “free”.

Definitely one of the silliest ideas I’ve ever seen on the WoW forums.

No? Players should not determine the game direction.

The only point at which this should be a thing would be after Phase 6. So “a certain level” should certainly be 60. In fact, I would say it should not only be a level requirement, but a certain length of /played at 60. I would go even further in saying that it should not be characters, but bnet accounts. I don’t think it would be good for an altaholic to have outsized say over someone who plays their main and maybe one alt.

Im also wary of just what goes up for vote. Remember that retail was the result of the Decs giving us what we cried for on the forums. So when we get what we want, we end up with retail. We are our own worst enemies because we are inherently lazy and always seek, and even campaign for, the path of least resistance, even if the result is ultimately dissatisfying. Just look at how many people are asking for things in Classic that ruined retail.

I’d like to see Classic+, but I don’t want it to be about QoL and features. I’d want it to be about new raid tiers, maybe not even linear progression, but parallel tiers. Like T2(b): a raid on par wit BWL in difficulty and gear rewards, but the itemization is different. So T2(b) Paladin set is geared for Paladin tanking and has stats for that end and set bonuses that augment it…like 4 piece bonus can proc a “chance to gain mana on hit” or a momentary “gain an in combat mana regen” kind of thing. I think there are lots of holes in itemization that could be filled with parallel content that supplements, rather than replaces, current content.

Other types of progression don’t have to be level or even gear based. I like the idea of class skins as a way to work towards a way if further differentiating your character while not messing with current class balance. For instance, each class could choose to remain as their base class or choose a path leading to a different sub class. The sub class would be identical in mechanics to the base class so that it wouldn’t effect balance, but the cosmetics of the class and abilities would change. I like the Dragonsworn as an example of this where a Druid can choose to become a Dragonsworn, maybe tied to the Green Dragonflight (to keep within lore realm of druids) and abilities are changed to mirror this. The most notable would be that their forms would be various dragon-related forms. Bear could be a Drake. Cat could be a Drakonid, travel could be whelp, etc. Content would be around all the quests around a central arc leading to this final transformation into the new sub class. Of course, they would all need to fit lore and such. But I know that Kevin Jordan originally wanted hero classes to work this way where the base classes eventually diverged into hero classes, but balancing for the 9 classes was already too much.

Anyway, these are ideas for content and I get carried away. I would be wary of what we are voting on, because I don’t think everything should come up for a vote. I think there are some things that should simply be off the table, no matter what people would vote for. As much as we don’t like to admit it, we need to be protected from ourselves.

Your guarentee would be wrong then. I already personally know of 3 of them.

Your title is misleading.

Sir, I have read the forums for a long long time. I have seen what the community has to offer. I do not want that community designing my game.

What they should do, IMO, is create an advisory board. Like 4 or 5 of the original devs that come in once a month and help with steering and mechanics.

World of Warcraft Classic+ or an expansion with an option to move/migrate to a new cluster or servers that follow the mechanics and design of Classic, but is not inspired by the forums, Wrath babies, or Ion and his team.

That way classic stays pristine, but players that wish can progress to the next classic-like content drop.

Confirmation bias at its best, lol. Your hatred of Classic is well known on these forums.

I have over 30 people on my friends list who havent been active in years, who have resubbed solely for Classic and are having an absolute ball. They are making plans about thier future in wow, stretching as far forward as a year in some cases.

Decisions aren’t made based on a unified consensus but rather an active community, a majority of the player base doesn’t read or post on the forums, those who want and care for change do.

I dont hate Classic, I play it everyday. Ive got atleast 6 days /played since it came out and its only two weeks old. Your guarentees are humorous though. There was a group of 5 of us going into classic, 4 who subbed only for classic and me who plays retail still. One of them is left and the Im a retail player that stayed. Your guarentees hold no water lol

Please no. I don’t want Retail Classic Boogaloo 2.0 which is exactly what would happen if we let the community take the development reins.

I was going to type out a response, but no need to after reading this.

Nailed it.

You know what ?

Just el oh el.

Refail players are the majority of the tourists. Nothing you can say can change what ive seen on these forums and in game that supports that conclusion.

Have a great day :smirk:

Unless you have data to back it up you cant claim the majority on anything.

In general I think the concept of in-game polling systems would be good to get more feedback.

But I disagree with how you plan on using them.

Maybe a couple of years from now when they are trying to decide what the community wants with classic. Could have a poll like “classic+, bc server, no change”

“You think you don’t, but you do”…?

Lololololol.

The problem is that they dont have the resources to do this. They threw the bare minimum at this project to get it running. A good blizzard project would have removed the NPCs that dont serve a purpose yet. I don’t think they have the ability to make changes to this game beyond bug fixes.

Is the pre-made group finder LFG to you?
