Blizz, time to allow class changes

With all the min/maxers and obsessive people that play this game now, this is not a good idea. OP classes will flood the population constantly. Blizzard will never 100% balance classes/specs. With people gnawing at the teeth to get that 1% advantage it would be insanity.

The problem is Blizzard isn’t balancing anyway. OP classes already flood the population because players were meta testing during beta. If anything, being able to easily switch classes whenever would make Blizzard pay more attention to fixing the broken classes. They would see no one playing monk, hunter, dps shaman, warrior, rogue, etc. and would either fix it or not and let WoW be what it is now, that you have to play a very particular way if you want to enjoy the game.

Said by the Demon Hunter, who is currently the tank flavour of the month and needs to be brought down a peg.

100% agree with this. As they say, “we never had class balance in WoW” but, this is probably the worse it’s ever been. And I say that while enjoying the xpac.

If you had been keeping up with the topic, OP is having a hard time in Twisting Corridors and would like to instantly change to a “FOTM class” so they could do better.

This has nothing to do with my class, my comment was in context of the OP’s suggestion. I’m sorry you feel VDH needs to be brought down a peg, or 10, or whatever. I hope instead, ProtPal is brought up.

My point is outside of TC though. If there is going to be FOTMs, anyone should be able to switch to that class if and when they want to.

Ideally, all classes would have some sort of balance and FOTM wouldn’t be a thing. Clearly that isn’t happening though with the “tunes” Bliz keeps pushing.

My suggestion is let people get caught up within a week of hitting max, aside from gear. Renown and storyline? Make it a day. Currencies? Make the catch up easier. Rep grinds? Make them streamlined. But only on alts.

The way FFXIV does it is really great… The different classes function just like our specs except if you switch to a new one you reset at level 1 and have to level it up from the beginning. Not only does it put all alts into one character (so you play and grow closer to your one character). But it would also be nice being able to have all my bags/items/maps/achieves on the same too .

Right? That’s the idea… I mean, you’d still have alts because of class restrictions on the different races. Yes, it makes sense you’d still have to level up your class, but to be able to switch easily would be so nice.

Like say I’m playing my lvl 60 hunter for world and PvP, but want to do raid and group needs a healer. Well then I can just switch over to my shaman class I also leveled to 60 for the raid. So I help the raid group out, but I’m still doing the raid on the character I wanted to do it on.

Also, a good point you brought up about bags/items/achievements etc., if WoW never allows free and easy class changes, they could substantially improve the game by making so many more things “Account bound” instead of “Character bound”. Have an account bank so I don’t need to have a guild that is just for my alts to share things easily. All maps, flight paths, achievements, currencies, and reputation should be account bound. If you get 100 stygia on one account, it just automatically shows on all accounts. Certain soulbound gear should be tradable to alts as well. For example, if I run a M+ and get low level gear that it gives me an option to trade to someone in the party, I should be able to send that to an alt.

I just feel like there are so many BIG changes Blizz could make this a better game and lots more enjoyable, but I don’t think they’re trying to improve the game.

I play this other MMO sometimes called Albion Online. They don’t have levels but each item you use has a skill proficiency 0-100. The thing is you can max them all but because they are tied to the type of item like plate vs cloth. Things don’t get too insane but you can max them all eventually with time investment and easily swap if you get bored say tanking and want a full caster class. Basically all the progress can be on one individual character. WoW certainly needs something like this. WoW also needs a way to scale what you want to do for greater proficiency. Like if you want to be a healer but would be willing to completely sacrifice your dps abilities you should be able to get even more healing output if you just want to heal. WoW just has terrible scaling with what people want to do and with how Blizzard realigns every expansion and sometime major patches.

I completely agree with pretty much everything being account bound. The main thing that keeps me from playing alts is that I have to grind out little stuff like map discoveries and gear when I could get on my other toon, but it’s soulboud.

Yes, and Blizz claimed SL was going to be “alt friendly”, I get it lets you skip some of the story and that’s nice, but I wouldn’t call it friendly. Especially with the drop rates, I struggle to keep my main caught up much less being able to maintain additional characters.

You still have to level that new class from scratch when you change classes in FFXIV. You switch weapons and start over from level 1 and level it just as you would a brand new character.

Now, I personally like that about FFXIV. I like a lot about FFXIV actually, but prefer WoW and play it much more. I rarely play FFXIV.

If WoW ever does what the OP suggests, it shouldn’t be you switching classes and automatically being the level of your main and all things done. It should be just as FFXIV (and other games that do this), and you still need to level that class.

Yes, I am agreeing with your point. But if I level a hunter to 60 and switch my class to shaman and level to 60, if I switch back to hunter, I should be lvl 60.

We already have that free system. You log out and roll a new class.

???

does the blizzard really balance the classes ???

what a joke.

If all the currencies I have were shared across my two characters I would say it was alt friendly, but I find it really annoying to have to farm Soul ash and Stygia on both toons. I am even ok if the cap is for the whole account, but it seriously sucks running Torgh 4x a week and doing the maw in two rooms…
