Blizz, If you don't want Healers to be expected to DPS then reduce mob HP

The reason why it’s become expected that healers must also deal damage is because things have so much damn health even on a 10 that if you want to time it your healer has to be doing damage. Especially when the 10 affix just flat out gives 5% more hp to mobs for no reason. Even though it’s a Fortified week bosses feel like Tyrannical on their health pool.

They are the ones who expect healers to dps, in fact. Why else would there be dps talents in the spec side of healers’ talent tree?

No one expects healers to pump damage 80% the run, just don’t be doing nothing.

Why is this so hard?

Dps as a healer is just something else to do when there’s no healing. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

It’s a team effort and a matter of doing what’s efficient.

Remember way back when when healers really did next to no damage?

Healers just complained endlessly how it was unfair they had to switch to dps to farm/quest, so blizzard gradually gave healers more damage

So now y’all gotta do damage as well

How long ago? I remember healers doing even more relevant damage during mop/wod.

But then wouldn’t healers DPSing still help it go faster?

As far as I can remember anyway

It’s fun to be able to contribute damage and/or cc as a healer.

Just sitting there and clicking frames is dull.

The talent trees are the same in dungeons, pvp, and raid. So it stands to reason that they think healers should be doing dps in dungeons, pvp, and the raid.

Not only does it make runs go faster it reduces healing required

Oh I get that, and I expect healers to deal some damage. The point of my post is I’m tired of healers who don’t deal damage, and then Blizz coming out saying “We want Healers to focus on Healing” while creating a system that requires healers to deal some damage at the same time. It’s irritating. Especially since if you dare to tell a healer to help deal some damage 9/10 times they’re going to get mad and probably leave.

i dont expect them to dps anymore. im happy if they manage to keep ppl alive lol

some ppl burst to 150k and sustain 80+ in aoe now. we dont need the healer’s 5k

I don’t see how that logic makes any sense.

The whole point of the talent trees was to give people flexibility on how they play. If a healer doesn’t wanna DPS I don’t really see the problem. If you don’t like that they don’t DPS, just don’t run another dungeon with them.

/shrug.

I actually had fun in Classic as a Resto just hitting with my 4 DPS every 3 second stick when the HoTs were rolling lol.

Screw team effort, I just want someone to be able to do their role. You’re a tank? Hold aggro. You’re a dps? Do damage and interrupts. You’re a healer? Do heals.

That’s all I expect. Anything more is golden. And that’s how it should be.

You don’t have to see it, I don’t know you and how you live your life is your decision.

I see it. Anyone who looks in the disc tree will see it. A disc priest that isn’t dealing damage is playing opposite to how blizzard designs the spec. In fact, there is no way to set up the disc tree without taking any dps-boosting talents. That’s just how it is.

I’ve seen plenty of 10s be timed with the healer doing less than 200k damage overall. If there isn’t any active healing to do, you should be able to throw out your damaging abilities, interrupt, stun, etc.

Why does this topic keep popping up? The days of healers being AFK and standing there with nothing to do between big damage chunks haven’t existed since Wrath. If you were doing nothing in Cata and every expansion after it you were considered to be a bad player. Literally what is your topic about because I don’t understand what message you are trying to make.

Dragonflight has really doubled down on everything, and the fights are designed as such that they really want every class/spec to use their kit to it’s full potential. So I don’t know what you mean by “If Blizzard doesn’t want healers to do damage” because every spec’s capabilities is designed with that in mind. It is very much an expansion of “what does x class/spec combination bring to y encounter”

And in my opinion, that’s just good game design which Dflight has been absolutely excelling in. If you’re instead trying to ask for a slower paced game, I am sorry to tell you, but WoW hasn’t been designed for slow pace in over a decade. If that’s what you want to play, you should look at Wrath classic.
