lmao, saw that too, brace yourselves.
Tell it to Blizzard in California after all it was thier own inactions in light of the chinese governments political pressure that caused this entire fiasco
They allowed the influence of another country to dictate how the parent companys american branch conduct thier business or risk losing the rights to sell licence and market their product there
Its not a simple yes or no question at all and its beyond the scope of this thread. Aka derailing.
Ill make an offer for the third time. Make a thread somewhere else like a politics forum and i will be happy to go into it. You can post the link here so anyone who is following this (probably no one) can view.
I mean if you truly are motivated by intellectual motives and all.
Hey, how are ya? Oh my I had to start it that way to be nice. China did not write the terms of service, I figured you were unaware.
Again, if this happened in the States or Canada, it would have had the same outcome. Rules are rules.
I’ve pointed out that they legally couldn’t make any other choice too many times.
You are clearly just here to copy and paste the same xenophobic rhetoric.
Seems like you summed it all up correctly. Not sure what we needed 17k more response for unless they’re venting or agreeing in unconstructive ways. (Like I’m doing here.)
Minor tweak, would Blizzard Taiwan staff have reason to fear Chinese kidnap squads disappearing them or their families if they didn’t ban Blitzchung? I’ve seen some video of people being disappeared in mainland China (camera outside a bar or whatnot) and crying women wondering where their reporter/protestor husband/son went. Company policy aside, I was thinking Blizzard Taiwan staff would be terrified for themselves or families.
Also, should hong kongers fear being hauled off to treatment centers for ‘internet addiction’ and ‘re-educated’ if/when HK is fully integrated into China? If the situation is so bleak and hopeless, would it not be more constructive for HK’ers to simply flee to free countries while the flee’ing is good? I know US is hostile, but Canada seems decently friendly. South Korea and Japan are trying to maintain racial homogeny, but might let Hong Kongers in. I don’t know how fine-tuned the bigotry is in their immigration policies.
It’s probably more of an uphill battle than reunification of germany, Vietnam, or korea unless hong kong can find someone to ‘reunify’ with. Spain crushed Catalonia’s attempt to secede, and I’m not sure who ever successfully seceded from anything short of colonies dropping out of empires. And I don’t think China will disband like the Soviets did since they’re good about studying everyone else’s mishaps. And Russia doesn’t seem any less fearsome after the fall than it was before the fall…
Seems to me I’d just move, but I’m a grownup with a kid in tow, so have to keep myself alive to look after my kid.
Anyone wants to try having grownup conversations with riots on one side and the Chinese army on the other side and gangs and kidnap squads all around… I wish you luck friend.
Ok so lets break this down. A) China currently is known to have the greatest growth potential of any market in the world and currently accounts for 12% of ActiBlizz overall sales. If they are to continue doing business within the next 10 years we could easily see China beating America in terms of how many people by ActiBlizz products. B) You need to understand that the situation is much more severe then Blizzard just saying no and letting Blitz do his thing. They have employees within China. Employees who would suddenly become jobless. Not to mention the fact that one of the main things people keep leaning on (The Blizzard Weibo account) Is run by Netease and there is also the fact there is mounting evidence that China changes whatever message a company sends out if they dont believe it supports “The pride of China”. C) What people expect Blizzard to do is simply not a possibility. If they give up the Chinese market they lose stocks. They lose stocks they lose employees. They lose employees they run late on updates and so on until it hits rock bottom. If anything it is congress that failed everyone by not having a set of rules in place to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the first place. The same congress that only now cares about what happened because they want free PR and such. The same congress the btw I guarantee will start making more and more attempts to get more Video Game sale money, but thats EA and Take-Twos faults for being idiots and bringing everyones attention to those games due to horrific mtx practices
As progressive as Australians like to think we are our government are nobs and probably wouldn’t let you in.
Thats funny since it did happen in the states a US hearthstone team held up a sign supporting HK freedom during an official Blizzard livestream event too and Blizz ignored them but then once the video went viral and exposed Blizz hypocrisy suddenly they decided to uphold the rules
They did it to try and make it seem like they werent showing favoritism toward the chinese and it blew up in their face
The more Blizzard tries to claim theyre arent allowing thier decisions to be influenced by foreign interests the more their bias shows
Is that insult directed at me?
Or they took their time to work out what to do after the first ban massively exploded in their face, meaning they were hesitant to make another knee-jerk reaction till they decided a uniform policy on the matter.
See how you can twist facts when you actually have no clue about their thought process.
Of course they didnt ban them immediately. There was already a massive amount of outcry over the Blitzchung situation. Blizz isnt stupid. They knew that if they banned the players people would have been even more furious. They would rather take the hit to the chin and people call them hypocrites for a week then take another major financial hit. Say what you will but it is obvious that if Blizz had banned them immediatly people wouldn’t have cared about consistency. They would have cared that another group was banned. Period.
Crony capitalism that is.
I mean there is this and the fact that the two incidents were in fact different, participants were bound to different rules and all. I posted that earlier and she ignored it then also.
Also ignored my breakdown on why Blizz simply couldnt just not ban Blitz. But ya know. Like we have all said. Its amazing what people will do to prove themselves right
Some people should read this.
You’re one of my favorite people on these forums!
Blizzard - Does Literally anything
“Your bias is showing! Chinese overlords! etc.”
Aww <3
Bingo.
