No, Netease does not run Blizzard servers in China. Netease licenses the game from Activision Blizzard and runs it there. They run WoW servers in China but do not run Blizzard servers in China.
I can admit to being wrong about the 5% shareholder thing. Got it, not the same company. My bad.
It still doesnt change the fact another company posted something and destroyed a kids life using Blizzards name and licensing and Blizzard did nothing. Which is why people are mad. Seriously, stop saying “BuT It WaSn’T BlLiZzArD uSa”
Nobody cares, not the point.
Thank you! many people fail to mention this.
Then they’re doing themselves a massive disservice by not clearing that up.
Wanna forward your post to the families that lose out on money because mommy or daddy got cut from blizzard because they lost all there income from the east.
Way to go bud, a whole post of complete trash.

Free Speech, in America, doesn’t exist in privately owned spaces and it ever has. And while I’m here, please help me understand the difference between Liberty and Freedom.
Nice nitpicking to avoid the substance of my post. I tend to think that freedom used in this sense refers to freedom of association and liberty ,being the more blanket term you seem to dislike, as the ability to be free of government interference in your life.
These are simply my personal interpretations of them though. They can mean many different things to many people.

Freedom, Liberty and Free Speech are a few more American values you left out there bud. I believe that american companies have a moral obligation to uphold these as well.
They don’t.
Not from a moral perspective or a legal one.

You are a pitiful company Blizzard. Listen to the statement you probably didn’t think anyone would see. Shame on you for bending the knee to the government of China in oppressing people.
You…do realize it was Netease that wrote that, right?

Then they’re doing themselves a massive disservice by not clearing that up.
A lot of folks are also doing themselves a massive disservice by not realizing it was Blizzard Taiwan that made this decision, because it’s Blizzard Taiwan that has to live in that climate. It doesn’t matter which way they decided, it’s dangerous regardless.
Agreed, and Blizzard should clear that part up too. Even if they didn’t make that decision, it’s not a stretch to think most people will assume they did, and they’re making no effort to ensure people are well-informed here.

Blizzard did not post that. No subsidiary of Blizzard posted that. No company that Blizzard can control posted that.
Netease, the 10b/year Chinese internet and gaming company who licenses the WoW IP/Code from Blizzard and runs it in China, posted it.
Alright guy, go to a big city and start kicking in crack dealers doors and snuffin em out. There oppressing people in YOUR country. Do you run neighborhood watch? Anything like that? I mean, US got Trump as a president. Think about it. Your supporting the same thing by paying taxes too. You gonna stop paying taxes too?
Why should blizzard take a stand in a foreign country when YOU wont proect YOUR own.

Mic drop.
THAT is the point.

Why should blizzard take a stand in a foreign country when YOU wont proect YOUR own.
It’s because they don’t actually care.
They just want to stick it to Blizzard.
If they would just be honest about it, we could actually move on lol

THAT is the point.
So, because people are generally ignorant, prone to jumping to conclusions because they want to stick it to Blizzard, Blizzard should come out and dumb down a statement they didn’t actually release?
Yeah, umm, wow.
It was 100% an official posting from blizzard, on their account and their logos. They can’t deny they did it. And maybe it really does show they are more of a Chinese company, which is good to know in the future.
I disagree. Having access to foreign markets can be very profitable but by supporting unfriendly governments and bowing to their authoritarian demands you do your company a disservice.
They make money of your products as well and you become associated with said countries actions even if indirectly. Therefore i argue that they very much DO have a moral obligation to stand up for those principals.

Moral Obligation guys, not legal. If you disagree with that fine but read my statement right.
It’s hilarious you think companies are moral.
Avatar had one very true statement in it:
“Let’s nobody be dead today, it looks bad on my report. … one thing that shareholders hate more than bad press, and that’s a bad quarterly statement”.

So how is it still a spread of misinformation
Because you went off without know some of the key facts.
