Then why did they blast it on social media? they didn’t have to announce it at all. It’s pretty obvious what they did. If they just suspended the guy and didn’t say a word nobody would be arguing about it right now.

Would he have been suspended this harshly for speaking about say…Yemen? Where no big money investment on Blizzard’s part is involved? Just wondering if you think this rule would be so enforced if business decision, not a principle about politics.

Yes if we continue to argue on the official wow forums China will be freed from almost 80 years of oppression. You could say this is a GREAT LEAP FORWARD in terms of activism.

Because it was receiving major public attention, and Blizzard felt it necessary to address the situation, as they have done many times before.

Yes.

Contractually bound, rekt for trying to hijack card tournament.

And you know that how exactly?

Would he have been punished This harshly if he was speaking about say… the moon?

And you know that how exactly?

Because he wasn’t just talking about Hong Kong, he was inciting revolution.

If you want to test it, feel free to tell people to start wearing black masks and terrorizing people in the streets of America. “Down with 45, revolution of our time.” See how long you last.

You leave the moon people out of this buddy.

This is a quality post.

Saying it doesn’t exist because not everyone has it is pretty stupid.

I’ll just quote my self.

Not sure what rock you live under, but the above isn’t true even in America. Granted, there will be no reprisal from the government (as per the 1st amendment) but don’t delude yourself into thinking freedom of speech is freedom from consequences. It never has been and it likely never will be.

For every action…

Speaking is an act.

Obviously actions have consequences.

What are you saying?

Would you crucify him if he said, “God made this all possible”. Because ya know, there are consequences for expressing your thoughts.

You have no clue why he got banned.

  1. He violated a Terms of Use rule, that he agreed to.
  2. He incited a political “firestorm” with the content of his statements, see number 1.

So Blizz punished him, as is their right to do.
Could Blizz have handled it a bit more “diplomatically”? Probably.

I wonder how many people would care if he got the same punishment for saying the complete opposite, cuz you know, he would still be using Blizzard for his political stance.

Hey Blizzard seriously ai want a refund on my Blizzcon tickets. Not interested in supporting you any more.

Lemme know how before I just do a charge back k thx

Yes they did, he tied Blizzards hands the moment he began making a political statement. If they didn’t act, then it would be open season at other Blizzard hosted events. Which would likely lead to the loss of those events. Because those events are not a political platform.
