the concept of human rights being unconnected to politics, is exactly right because you exist as a separate entity from others. you’re born as a separate entity. other people aren’t you. wouldnt matter what was going on politically. you exist and that existence guarantees you will experience individual experience.

The type of governments typical to a particular ethnic group could have commonalities, such that a critique of their government necessarily contains a broader critique of the way that particular people group organizes their societies. The Chinese government is ultimately a product of the Chinese people. There are many factors at play, but the racial element is non-negligible.

Human rights exist independently of government, and governments violate them all the time. If you are lucky, you live in a place where our best estimation of human rights is written into law. These are simply called rights. When a government violates human rights (which tends to be a pretty obvious thing when it happens, despite human rights being an ideal more so than codified), it’s an assault against humanity.

I don’t believe ethnocentricity is intrinsically racist, but it seems that OP is implicitly calling out China as a whole for being an inferior society because it doesn’t share Western values. It doesn’t matter if he’s not hating on the race. As you said yourself, “racism” has become so distorted, but you don’t have to hate the culture/people to be racist. You just have to form prejudices against them.
There is a difference between saying “I disagree with Saudi Arabia’s (as a political entity) domestic policies on women’s rights” and “Saudi Arabia (as a nation) hates women”.
