Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

My point is there is context. The context here is that it wasnt some Neo Yatzi espousing genoicide, it was a kid protesting for his right to basic human freedoms which China would deny him for. Olympic athletes, Football players, NBA players do all sorts of protests. Yet they aren’t banned. This was a monetary decision, it was to keep Blizzard in Chinas good graces, Now, whats come to light is this may have been the work of the Taiwan Office, which if so and not at the direction of Blizzard HQ, i fully expect a Mea Culpa.

At this point I’m guessing that Blizz is going to keep mum and hope it dies out. Now what will happen at Blizzcon could be real interesting… stock up on popcorn.

“Imagine the fire.”

Its called a colorful way to make a point.

You are saying you cant have your own opinion on the matter. You are the perfect personality type to live in an authoritarian society.

You want daddy to make your decisions and opinions for you.

And another troll post, if you had actually read what I stated, it was that we as rando players are not in a position to make those decisions for Blizzard, we can have opinions and disagree or agree all we want, but we dont make those decisions for their company.

I highly doubt anytime theres an issue J. Allen Brack is calling you up going “Sup bro, whatcha think?”

This is inherently wrong. Rights are given by a higher power and precede government or any corporation. All humans have inherent unalienable rights no matter where they live. Governments who deny those rights are totalitarian, despotic and tyrannical in nature. And yes, there is no one that can force anyone into slave labor. It is a choice whether or not to comply, which could mean death depending on the government or person holding power. History has shown that some would rather die than be a government slave or a slave to anyone. Slavery is evil incarnate.

It’s terrible you think that government gives you rights when it doesn’t. Government’s function is to secure your rights. It does this through laws that protect your life, your property and freedoms such as religion, speech and association.

You said we “arent in the position to decide”.

You certainly can decide it was too harsh and you can formulate your opinion based on what you decide. And then you can decide how you want to act i.e. boycotting.

You cant singularly force them to change their decision.

So maybe you just dont know how to word what point you are trying to make.

Annnd we did it!

But playing fair also includes appropriate pre-and post-match conduct, especially when a player accepts recognition for winning in a broadcast. When we think about the suspension, six months for blitzchung is more appropriate, after which time he can compete in the Hearthstone pro circuit again if he so chooses. There is a consequence for taking the conversation away from the purpose of the event and disrupting or derailing the broadcast.

With regard to the casters, remember their purpose is to keep the event focused on the tournament. That didn’t happen here, and we are setting their suspension to six months as well.

At least, kind-sorta.

Ok, so what about if someone came out stating a bunch of pro IRA stuff? Theres context sure, but if someone had come out with a bunch of pro IRA stuff some people would call that person a freedom fighter while other would see them as a militant terrorist or at least supporting terrorist activities.

Not matter what Blizzard did here something bad was going to happen, and Blitzchung shoved them into that corner. They either side with him and endanger their Chinese employees and their families or they do what they did and face the negative backlash. Although I wonder if all this would be this bad if we didn’t have youtubers fanning the flames constantly with “Bash Blizzard” videos every hour of the day now.

And what higher power exactly are you referring to

Secondly, how about you go ahead and define what you think a ‘right’ is. And be as specific as possible.

I am so interested in why all of you guys believe in that the gov of China will punish the employees of Blizz in China if Blizz didn’t punish this guy?

Can’t you see a lot of ppl went to watch the NBA preseason even the government is boycotting NBA? Their government is not like evil as your media told you.

You don’t get it. It isn’t my political stance. I don’t have one. Their rules are arbitrary as are most rules. They opposed their own supposed values, They decided on those values, and they displayed that they nothing more than marketing.

I’m calling out a Leper Messiah. Don’t want to be called out, don’t proclaim your own righteousness.

I’m more than just stained.

I don’t expect Acti-Blizzard management to throw Blizzard’s staff in Taiwan under the bus.

Leaving his earnings alone, a 3 month ban would have gone a long way to prove they werent just licking Chinas boots. yeah some would be upset but he did break rules. But apparently anything less than what he got is somehow not ok? I dont understand you people or your position. A lesser punishment works just fine. I swear you few are just arguing to argue cus ur bored.

They already lowered it to 6 months, the casters have their jobs back but on a 6 month probation, and Blitz is getting his rightful earnings.

It is.

They would be rolling tanks over the people in Hong Kong right now if it werent for iPhones live streaming.

Let’s keep that in mind when people start talking about American politics in China. Will they be banned? Something tells me no. Call me crazy but it’s human nature to take advantage of those who willingly allow it. Right now Americans seem numb to anything and so it allows corporate to do whatever they want.
