Social media was a mistake.
What does this have to do with WoW ?
Every day I see reason after reason reminding me why I never created a Twitter account.
Let the games begin.
Well said.
Im NOT not playing this game over some joker who knowingly broke the rules and got punished according to the rules he agreed to.
This game is owned by blizzard. They can do anything they want to with it and make any rules they want.
If people dont like that fact, they can find another game, I suppose.
I have one just to follow my favorite tv shows or actors. Once they start getting political though I unfollow. Its fun for light stuff but the sheep type outrage culture there is just weird.
Outrage culture at it’s finest.
This has to do with the Blizzard /China situation .
Are they being attacked for supporting Blizzard or condemning Blizzard?
Personally I think what blizzard did
- Fire the match commentators, even though they weren’t part of it
- A massive 1 year ban, far worse than any ban slapped against cheaters
- Forfeiture the prize money
- Apologized to the Chinese government
They should have done nothing to the guy. Or maybe slapped his wrist and reiterated that politics shouldn’t be promoted during the game.
What they did is prioritize money over the values they claimed to have. Hypocrites.
It’s always been a witch hunt. It’s one of the meme-y pitchfork mob witch hunts that pop up with regrettable regularity in the gaming hobby. This month it just happens to be blorz that’s being targeted by the mindless gaggle of outrage tourists.
Yeah, I only used mine to see dogs pictures, sports and memes. I avoid actors and show biz accounts in general, too political for me.
They are being attacked for having fun.
Yes, I noticed I must have missed something with all the threads on some sort of censorship thing.
Most people are about as bright as a burnt out lightbulb if you haven’t noticed.
Way too many people lack logic and critical anaysis skills and are too easily swayed by words–words that are usually spouted by someone that misconstrued the situation themselves.
Often times they don’t even have enough information on the situation to form a valid opinion for themselves and instead merely follow the herd.
It’s a bit pitiful, really. Well, until it starts getting people hurt. It’s just plain idiotic then.
I am speaking broadly, for the record. This comment pertains to no specific issue or cause.
And to imagine that all this started with not keeping score in little league baseball games… ya know feelings and all!
But yeh I had a Twitter account/facebook account for like 2 months years ago… thats all it took for me to run screaming from that crap show.
It doesn’t really matter. It’s lame to harass people on social media over their stance on this issue. Seriously. People need to get a life.
this a thousand times over.
Well no - you got that half right:
At worst, they apparently egged him on. At best they knew what he was about to do and didn’t pull the plug
No, Netease, the 10b a year Chinese internet and gaming company who - among many other businesses - licenses the game from ActiBlizzard and runs it in China issued that apology. Netease is neither owned by or is a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard.
If people want the attention that comes from being a public person, they get to deal with the criticism as well.
They are wrong, they will be shown the correct way BY FORCE.
