Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

I already addressed this point earlier, I mean, at this point you’re just ignoring rational explanations in favour of no-evidence conspiracy.

Well to China, Western models are discredited. Some people hoped as China became more prosperous, they would adopt a more democratic system etc. Sadly no.

The position China would like us to be in, is obviously one where they are not dependent on us. That’s why they not mucking around, they know nuclear power is the best alternative to fossil fuel, unlike so many other Western countries that are still stuck in this ‘nuclear is bad’ paradigm.

But Xi Jinping is outright say that he wants to build a world of peace. To me it is absolutely fundamental we understand the fears and hopes of this rising empire. We must not forget, that China has raised a sixth of the entire world population out of poverty, so we really need to question our own assumptions, I mean I am not saying that they have never done evil things, but we’re talking about over a billion people.

This year, Chinese scientists have been absolutely alarmed at the rise of anti-Chinese sentiment in the USA, I just hope that things play out the same way they played out with Russia and North Korea, as things were looking very tense there for a while. I just hope with China, a similar thing happens.

Going to disagree with this. Nuclear power is fantastic and all, when it’s properly maintained, but it has two main drawbacks. It can lead to disasterous effects if it’s not maintained, especially if disasters strike the region where the plant is (as we saw with Japan), and it generates waste which is extremely difficult to get rid of, resulting to mass storage of highly radioactive material and improper storage and handling of that type of waste can also have disasterous effects.

The best way, honestly, to generate power is through the use of renewable energy technologies (wind, solar, hydro) on a community level, which is then backed up by other larger power generation facilities. Advancements in battery technology, thanks to Tesla, is making solar power generation more reliable, and advancements in wind turbine technology in France allows for turbines which can blend in with communities, rather than stick out like sore thumbs.

Yeah sadly, governments have behaved incompetently with this, where I live they blew up the coal power station that fueled the state so when there was nothing but wind and solar, there was total blackout.

That’s why I’m a bit resistant to renewables as governments aren’t competent in that way.

I’d add that this would never have happened if the US and other countries hadn’t lowered our standards decades ago and chose to open trade with a brutal communist regime.
Yeah…thank you to the ‘enlightened’ politicians who opened up that can of worms.

Also Xi

Anyone attempting to split China in any part of the country will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones

Must be a kind of peace on Xi’s terms…and no other country matters.

Yuuuuuup, Blizz needs to be consistent. If they are going to ban players over stuff they themselves have done before, then it makes Blizz massively hypocritical and they deserve to be called out for it.

I’ve more or less exited this thread and wait to see what happens at Blizzcon. I don’t think most people in this thread are really interested in honest polite conversation at this point regardless of which side of the fence they sit on.

Yeah well unfortunately this is a symptom of a much larger issue

Blizzard had ample opportunity to put this matter to rest all they had to do was just grow a spine and show some integrity for once in their life

Sadly like every other corporate entity they chose profits over principles

I agree that what we’re seeing with the NBA, Blizzard and the other corporations kneeling to Chinese govt sentiments is a symptom of our country’s long history of trading with China with no concern for our economy and more importantly our security.
Maybe if our own manufacturing industries hadn’t chosen to go cheap at the loss of jobs to send it all over to China…we’ve been allowing our govt and our businesses to throw us under the bus.

Finally beating the post count of the high elf mega thread, nice.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Every company chooses profits over principles. If it looks like they did something you agree with, guess what, they’re trying to get your business.

Welp, that’s one drawback from rampant capitalism, and I’m pro capitalism but that’s the way the cookie crumbles and it was a game well played by China, they offered us cheap, slave labor workers to operate the factories and of course our greedy CEO’s had to take the offer.

Now they are too involved with the chinese to just cut that financial relationship without serious repercussions and the chinese will not stop trying to impose their ideology into everything they touch.

By the time our representatives understand how big the Chinese grasp really is, it’ll be too late. It won’t be long until everything and everyone is owned by the chinese just because CEO’s NEED more money.
