We think we are so much better in the Moral West than China, but the reality is we deal with people swearing at you, and the road rage is terrible especially in Australia, where if someone cuts someone off even by accident, people will be raising their fists at each other, people swearing at you, trying to chase you down the road simply because they don’t like you, especially if the person is from a bogan suburb, though to be fair I can understand the anger people feel when they encroach on another person’s personal space, that kind of anger is completely justified, everyone in Australia really needs to learn to keep the hell to themselves and take their bogan attitudes back to where they came from, if I had my way those suburbs would be outposts of China already as those people seriously need to learn manners.
I am not going to side with protesters that are smashing up businesses and ruining people’s livelihoods, plain and simple, that kind of lawless thuggery is uncivilized, and barbaric behavior, now I can understand some people are pro-democracy and love democracy, but I have seen over the 2010’s people in so-called democracy have their opinions ignored over and over.
Consider; if you voted Trump, you were a ‘racist’ a ‘deplorable’ and evil monster, but the reality is, he was democratically elected, but no, if you got caught voting for him you might lose your job, your career anything. Same with Brexit in UK that keeps getting delayed and delayed, nobody cares about the will of the majority in a ‘democracy’ anyway, they are going to keep pushing for a second referendum until UK is sucking the EU’s you-know-what, that’s the reality of the situation regarding ‘democracy’, the majority of people will always get ignored anyway so why pretend?
China is not perfect, but I’ve never met someone that visited China that didn’t love it there and didn’t really appreciate the kindness of the Chinese people.
Good night happy denizens of this thread, was another great yet slightly different convo tonight. Hope you all have sweet dreams when you get there, or great days if you are on the other side of the world!
I mean, it is an actual study done by the WHO. You can find it on their site for purchase, and the basic summary elsewhere, as well as their site. But I’m not seeing control groups or specific data, just conclusions/summaries.
Twenty-two experts from 10 countries reviewed more than 800 studies spanning 20 years to reach their conclusions. They found that eating 50 grams of processed meat every day increased the risk of by 18%. That’s the equivalent of about 4 strips of bacon or 1 hot dog. For red meat, there was evidence of increased risk of colorectal.
There was no control because it’s third party case study. Which… Ugh, really depends on the expertise, experience, and validity of those other studies.
Pomegranate juice made a splash when researchers found that it may help stop the growth of prostate cancer cells. Despite multiple studies on the effects of the juice on prostate cancer, results are still preliminary.
While there haven’t been long-term studies with humans that prove that pomegranate juice prevents cancer or reduces the risk, adding it to your diet certainly can’t hurt. There have been encouraging results in studies so far, and [bigger studies are now being done]
Oh look at this fruit called Pomegranate it helps to fight cancer a bit. Or is that a mislead?
Serious talk, if you are at the point that eating a Banana is actually a problem for you, then you have a serious health condition and already know it more than likely. Don’t rob yourselves of good healthy fruits because of what this dude says. You’ll rob yourself of all sorts of vitamins, minerals and fiber that this dude just glosses over. That said, don’t buy into the superfruit craze either. It’s totally overblown. Just eat a variety of fruits and you’ll be fine. Anything in excess is bad though.
UPDATE on Hong Kong: It’s too bad but they are cracking down hard on the protestors. Using blue dye/water/tear gas mix to subdue them. Also, they are molesting women they arrest and beating men they arrest.
What makes me even more peeved is the silence from Trump. We have disgraced ourself as a society to let this happen. Now we know what the people who lived during world war 2 and didn’t do anything overtly about the Holocaust went through.
Those two dont work well together. Sounds like the WHO commissioned the study. Which is fine, nothing wrong with scientists getting paid, but it begs the question of integrity and framing.
You’d have to really get into the details to decipher that in a meaningful way. Regardless, I don’t doubt that foods like SPAM are prolly terrible for you, but if pre-cooked frozen chicken is treated as the same variable as SPAM, then its lul worthy.
That blue-dye stuff is supposedly nasty. Like second degree chemical burns.
He’s in a years long trade war with China that no one else on the planet is doing. I get that he isn’t addressing HK directly, but come on. Its not like he’s pulling a Lebron James or Steve Kerr here.
You had me worried that you were gonna say you were peeved by silence from Blizzard. I agree, it’s not a good look that the only thing we’ve seen from him lately on the topic of China is sitting down to trade with them.
It’s a big mess of a situation in that they technically own Hong Kong but Hong Kong doesn’t want to be part of China.
I don’t consider tarrifs punishment for Hong Kong. That is for the theft of American IP, mainly. I support the tarrifs and pray they are permanent. But about Hong Kong I believe he should speak out on the issue. By not doing so he is imho complicit.
Also I didn’t just blame him. I said “we.” Its my opinion that america in general will look back on this time and think it’s akin to when we had slaves.
They defined processed meats as, meat that has been transformed through salting, curing, fermentation, smoking or other processes to enhance flavour or improve preservation.
And stated, meat processing such as curing and smoking can result in formation of carcinogenic chemicals including N-nitroso compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
I don’t think anyone does. The point is the contrast of Trump compared to literally every other head of state on the planet. He is pretty much the only one standing up to them, regardless of the particular topic.
Given his actions towards China, no. Very much disagree he is somehow being complicit. He has been more pro-action regarding China than anyone else on the world stage.
I agree that most Americans would side with HK and the ideals of democracy and personal liberty, but lets keep the drama within reasonable bounds. There is no open slavery going on in HK, but ya, China is arguably the worst human rights abuser on the planet.
