Blizz, Hong Kong, Freedom of speech, lets have an Adult discussion

Sounds to me you do have an issue with female characters for whatever reason, and think it a SJW move to even write for them when most of the writing they did was for ones that were always in the story. (Jaina, Sylvanas) since you’re pointing it out in the way you have.

And no, writing females in the story and adjusting minor details to follow the law of the various countries you release a game in is nowhere near an example of them taking a stance on global political issues and getting involved. You failed to provide examples. The desire for a GAMING COMPANY to become a political stage and take a stance against China is still as ridiculous as before, and your claim that they get “political all the time” has clearly been a false one.

Stop letting emotion rule you over this, Blizzard did nothing wrong here. The guy forced their hand by breaking the ToS and trying to make them a political stage for something they did not want to get involved in. That doesn’t mean they support China, it just means they don’t want to get involved because they are just a gaming company and that’s not what they do or were meant for. It’s silly. Plain silly.

The USA does more good than bad in the world and you can ask 3rd worlders about that if you aren’t sure.

We must break the cycle…

I address that in the post already.

Yet its ok for them to take a stance against Hong Kong??

Take your own advice.

The did nothing wrong legally.

They bend over backwards for china in everything they do.

Whether or not you like my examples they are still examples. They get involved all the time.

Look , I LOVE blizzard games. As i’m sure you do too but we can’t continue to let things like this slide. Vote with your dollars.

From what I could find out about the whole situation. What Blizzard did does seem like they’re only saving their bottom line, but think about it. The Chinese market can outright eliminate Blizzard from itself if they were seen as a “viva la revolution.” enabling platform. The NBA suffered in China because one coach spoke about freedom of speech. If that happens, the entire player base in China get’s punished, not to mention any other casters that can have a chance with them.

Yes, in the light of freedom and free speech it’s wrong what they did, but It’s hard to be that anti-Blizzard. Poor company is in a no-win situation. Not doing anything kills Chinese ability to play, so we’ld be here discussing how they don’t care about their players allowing such a large audience to be denied. Or, do as they did, and get called cowards cow towing to the Chinese government to save money.

Politics exist in games. That’s what politics are. They EVERYTHING now. The mere fact Sylvanas, a genocidal maniac bent on destroying all life is framed as a villain is a politic commentary.

Everything is political because politics are subjective.

Good enough to ignore human rights I see.

And you’re any better?

There’s a price to be paid for ignoring the politics around you as well. Have you ever heard a saying that goes something like this? “I did not speak for them because they were not me. When they finally came for me, there was no one left to speak for me…”

Wrong.

Their TOS was vague and that DOESN’T explain why they fired the casters who did literally NOTHING?

Idk the fact that their games carry heavy political themes from overwatch to WoW…

12%.

Caster encouraged Blitzchung to make his statement. What they said right before ducking was translated.

They told him he could say what he wanted but they wouldn’t comment on it.

HE CAME IN WITH A GAS MASK ON. His intentions were PREMEDITATED.

Casters did nothing wrong.

You’re 100% right.

They crucified the player and fired the two casters.

It’s a lose lose situation but they didn’t have to be so heavy handed.

American values are what allowed blizzard to become a the number 1 gaming company.

I would be happy and resub if they made an apology along with giving the player an opportunity to play in another tournament elsewhere.

This is probably exactly what would have happened. It’s also why the NBA did what they did by backtracking what they said.

Remember the old forums?

We didn’t have trust levels. We could post links. I could use Imgur. Then we got this “new and improved” forums and suddenly, we have to earn those abilities.
Our money isn’t enough.

That’s a China policy. They’ve been doing it for awhile now. Little by little. I don’t live in China, I’m on the opposite end of the earth from them yet here I am, having to deal with something they would implement.

If you’re okay with that, then that’s on you. Don’t be surprised when it gets worse.

It’s not okay with me. Have a g’night everyone.

You don’t understand the irony of what you just said, do you.

lol Go talk American values to the thousands of homeless in our country or the under supported veterans. Wait how about that joke we call Congress that is too busy fighting like 3yrs old to focus on anything truly important.

If you don’t get the reference maybe you should read the news more.

Or the effing demented joke of a president we have. Same difference. Democracy is getting a beat down.

Yep, cant expect and AMERICAN company to up hold American values when the country itself cant do the same.

“You can’t complain about people getting shot in the street! America is ALSO corrupt!”

So your solution is we do nothing about either of those things?

Who said they were China’s demands?

The only people saying this are people on the internet who ‘feel’ that China forced Blizzard to do this.

You know, there’s this amazing phrase that Americans love to use quite a bit when it comes to decisions about guilt and innocence. What was it… it was on the tip of my tongue. Oh, right, that’s it…

Innocent until PROVEN guilty

So where’s the proof that China was even involved? Where’s the evidence? By all means, if you’re so adamant that Blizzard kotowed to the CCP, you should have evidence that proves it right?

If China is 12% of acto/blizz $ flow then if just 13% of western players boycott it makes it more profitable to leave china.

No solution is fix our country first!! How can we fix another country if we cant fix our own. I dont care for Trump but at least he is focusing on the US and telling other countries Tough if they dont like the lack of US attention on their problems.

From what I’ve read they only banned him for a year.

“I didn’t send aid because it wasn’t my problem. I didn’t send aid because I have my own issues. When they came for me, nobody was left to send aid to me…”
