Blizz forces managers to rate employees poorly to save money, even if they are qualified workers

If bonuses are part of your pay structure, and you’re being denied bonuses due to your managers downgrading your performance solely to fit the company quota, then you are being robbed. Period.

all review processes affect raises and promotions, ffs… Well you did a terrible job this year, but I have no choice but to promote you to CEO!

Profit sharing BONUS money does not in any way affect your salary.

Your salary is the wage you are paid to work. Let’s say, 100K a year.

Your profit sharing BONUS would be a percentage of your SALARY in some sort of stock options(what I’ve been part of) or something along those lines.

Never, ever count on getting a bonus and double never count that in as salary for your budget concerns.

Who said anyone is entitled? Why are you playing defense for the giant corporation who decided that by policy 5% of people must have a poor review, regardless if they performed well or not?

Bonuses are not apart of your salary pay, hence the ‘Bonus’ part. Do any of you people actually work in a corporate environment?

Profit share is NOT part of anyone’s pay structure. ask anyone that got $0 for two years during the pandemic. It was a good reminder that profit share is ON TOP of salary, not part of it.

That’s me admitting I was wrong, which is evidently more than you can do yourself.

Yes, for the umpteenth time, I understand. but Raises and Promotions DO affect your salary.

And you don’t get those if you receive a poor review. Again, people are not reading the article, but have opinions about it.

But they didn’t earn it. The company decided they didn’t. the company pays the wage.

You deleted this pretty quickly, but yes, it does specifically mention raises, and yes, you can get a raise without a promotion.

Admittedly I missed the raise part the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time I read it.

There is no money. None. Whatsoever. How are employees being denied money when they haven’t even earned it yet?

It was poorly handled by Blizzard. If someone doesn’t deserve a bad score, you shouldn’t make people give it to them. Reviews of performances ought to include criticism of those performances as well as suggestions for how to get better. Your management shouldn’t use that as a pretext to fire you.

I have an MBA, MA in Leadership, a Doctorate in Business Management. I have analyzed thousands of cases in my academic career. Forcing low performance review ratings always ended up badly.

It’s why I ignore all the emails from Amazon recruiters.

Guess I need to make a list of companies to avoid when I want to find a new job.

Because they HAVE earned it, these people being given a developing status don’t deserve the status, they are doing the job to the standard that Blizzard expects of them according to the articles and are STILL being punished for it JUST to fill the 5% quota.

I’m sure they could’ve found 5% of the team slacking off WITHOUT having to artificially screw the better performers.
