So when we talk about armor classes, we mean it’s primarily made of that material.
Cloth is usually woven from primarily fabrics, it can have a choice of armored attachments to put on.
Leathers can have studs, buckles, or other metal accessories to help increase protection, this was done historically and it’s no surprise to anyone that BfA armor can reflect this.
Mail is primarily made of chainmail links that is surrounded by typically hides and leathers, as well as cloths.
Plate is primarily outer plating that can be layered protection with an insulator+graze protector fabric like cloth and hides be below it for comfort and to shield against crushing blows.

Yes I did, and you can tell right off the bat that the kilt and belt is primarily made of some form of leather or tough hide, the textures on it makes it evident.
The same goes for the bracers that appear to be made of hide.
Can’t really tell what the chestpiece is made about, but it does narrowly pass off as cloth.
Looks like Cloth intermixed with leather for the legs. I see no reason why you couldnt say any clothy belt is leather or cloth. Everyone wears leather belts. My hunter just has pouches as a belt.
mail is the one that confuses me most of all Ive got 120 hunters and shamans and while I love the mogs, very few of them after you leave classic range content actually LOOK anything like real mail armor.

That says more about Blizzard’s armor textures needing an overhaul. Honestly all pants / shirts are the same thing, and just the boots, gloves, helm and shoulders really give it “the look” of different armor.
I’d like to see updates to robe options. Some of the Paladin plate sets with robes would look amazing if they were open robes with plate underneath. And I am sure that multiple robe styles could be put in for cloth users, other than the Victorian nightgown model that all robes share.
I was being completely facetious in imitating the other smooth brains on this forum and advocating less choice and more being told what to do by Blizzard and/or the community.
Lol. I was attempting to be so over the top that people would catch on but sadly its become so much the norm around here that its harder to tell when someone is being unironically stupid.
OF COURSE you should be able to mog however you want. You appearance is a personal choice and affects NOTHING about the game. You should have complete freedom here and I dont even care if you want your clothy to wear plate. Go wild.
another idea would be to allow the armors mog stuff that drops regardless of what you can wear to be added to mog list, i know blizzard wants people to spend a ton of time toon jumping for time played metric but at least allow what you loot to be added to mog list for other classes you didn’t get the drops with.
And since the introduction of the onezie from blizzcon broke the “immersion argument”, ID also like all the holiday “prizes” to be made cosmetic and remove the “only during the holiday” restrictions…like the gas mask and the bunny ears…
You’d think from some of the comments here that some of these guys had some personal agenda or something…like MY mogs somehow affect THEIR game LMAO.

usually I’m against these “give me this, i want it” threads… but in this case, i’llmake an exception. particularly in the case of Mail gear. most of it is crap. which explains why i don’t play my hunter and why i don’t have patience to level a shammy. mog hunting is enjoyable to me, and i love seeing what i xan do with different pieces (yes, this toon is running a fairly common and not very unique mog, but it suits her, being a frost DK).
I kinda want them to remove restriction on class gear sets too, as i love the judgement set (so much so that i hunted down the purple recolor of it and occasionally switch to that). i’d also like to see updated and /or more recolors of older sets (can i get more green sets, please? I may hate unholy, but one of my favourite colors is green. i just can’t find many gear sets that are green that i like. maybe recolour the hyperion set to be green and blue or something.)
more options for customization is almost always good. and gear is no exception to that.
