Old news. The spell effect changed months ago on the alpha. We’re still not quite sure it is intended, since the spell effect still does have dodge in the tooltip, it’s just marked in the same way as a rank-up reward would be (but without the rank-up to provide it). Also, Death Sweep appears to still provide dodge.
Also, not that surprising. Blizzard nerfs things based on how they are performing now, not how they are expected to perform in the upcoming expansion. Due to corruption and Furious Gaze, we can hit pretty extreme amounts of haste, causing Blade Dance to have a 20-25% uptime on the dodge effect. The fact that both Furious Gaze and corruption are gone in SL doesn’t seem to matter to Blizzard, they’re bound and determined to nerf it anyway.
Honestly, they really should have just removed or reduced the dodge chance in PvP combat. Bam, instantly fixes the issue with it without damaging its PvE use. But Blizzard is abysmally lazy these days with balance. They see something they don’t like, they start swinging around the nerf hammer like they’re Thor.
