Blacksmithing, am I missing something?

So I made my first epic axe yesterday and I was pretty excited. It took a lot of gold and a lot of time to get it but I felt it was worth it. Kind of. I really wanted to forge my own weapon and solve the riddle of steel. I wanted to make something to see my enemies driven before me.
But I’ll probably replace it in a few days.

So if I’m understanding this right… you have to make something repeatedly in order to make it a higher Item level, but you need omens to make it which drop one a week. A 2h weapon takes two. How is that possible?? I’m not too familiar with crafting orders but why would someone want me to make a subpar version when some people have their crafting maxed out.

Not to mention being able to make other epic gear with the same issues, one item, once a week. Am I missing something?

Side note: cooking should have specialization trees

True…you get sparks at a trickle rate. So it’s either, you trickle your own supplies or make things for others and they can use their sparks through work order / guild order system.

Specializing in one tree in crafting shouldn’t be too bad if you want to craft your own weapon but yes as long as you’re not able to do the best items it doesn’t have much use in the long game. 2h weapons cost 2 sparks because it takes for many classes 2x1h weapons which cost 1 so it balance it out.

The answer to the riddle of steel is death. :slightly_smiling_face:

You make it once.

If you can’t make it at the highest quality, you can recraft it later after you gained some better mats, improved your skill or get an upgrade reagent. You will not need new sparks to recraft until you are upgrading to a new season, only some mats.

Each recraft is replacing some of the mats you used with new mats. The “multiple times” comes from the fact that mats are so important to the quality that replacing only some of the low quality mats with high quality in a recraft might not be enough to reach the highest quality.

There may be a few corner cases where the rare ingredients needed in a recraft are so rare that it ends up being less of a hassle to just make a new item from scratch. I suspect those situations are few and far between, but I haven’t reached a point where I’m doing much epic crafting yet - other sources of gear are still outpacing my crafting skill gains.

Thank you, that’s great news. Didn’t know all that

Join a guild and bully everyone into placing their orders into Guild instead of Public.

Jk. If your guild is good they will submit their orders to you, if they don’t, gquit and find a better guild. You can join mine if you play Shadow, Hunter or Boomy.
