So I’ve noticed an uptick in complain threads surrounding certain bgs (…like Wintergrasp
) ever since Shadowlands launch. Have even seen a number of reddit threads popping up regarding the issue - most of which are getting hundreds of ‘likes’.
I’m guessing the general public is playing some of these bgs for the first time, since most of the things they are complaining about have already been previously discussed in the battlegrounds forum.
Skimming thru all the (rehashed) complain threads - and considering that it’s the same handful of unpopular bgs being complained about over and over - a simple solution to all the various complaints would be to just bring back the blacklist feature.
Now that the general public is dipping their toes into battlegrounds on a (somewhat) regular basis, it’s obvious that most players want blacklist back. Even the option to block just 1 map would make most players happy and noticeably improve the battlegrounds experience.

Knowing what to do instead of roaming around aimlessly and failing at the objectives would noticeably improve the Battleground experience as well.

I would appreciate this too! I loved that blacklist feature. I would only blacklist one - Silvershard Mines!

Will never happen.
If you can skip tedious things you don’t enjoy then blizzard will have to admit that they design things that people don’t enjoy, which is the opposite of the entire point of a video game.

That would require a decent portion of the 40 to know. That is a very rare occurrence.
I’ve only won once as offense and it was in last the last seconds of the game. Only reason to be offense in Wintergrasp is to farm honor and hope for cohesion and team play.

Certain bg maps are so inherently imbalanced/rigged for one side that your individual efforts have little impact on the outcome of the match (see: Wintergrasp), try again.
Sweeping a mess under a rug doesn’t fix the mess though I’d rather they fix broken bgs like wg
It takes teamwork but I’ve won both as offense and defense in the past week. Also, you get games where defense never goes after the towers, and so it goes the full 45min.
The main complaint for me is that I can’t join Strand of the Ancients anymore.
A secondary one would be they should be adding as many new battlegrounds as dungeons each expansion.

I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t add an SL-themed battleground, I know they added arena maps for SL.
I’ve literally seen some pugs say “bring back strands” during some of my recent WG games
Yes please would love to never have to see Kotmogu again

But it’s a better indication of which maps people think are a problem then the forums are.
If there’s an equal distribution of maps being blacklisted except for, say, Battle for Gilneas, which has a 15% deviation from the average then they know they should fix that terrible map.
It’s data. Not tears.

Blizzard aren’t simpletons they know which ones are broken we’ve been saying it for weeks, we just have to wait for them to consider it a priority
You don’t know that, and I’d prefer a more clear way to demonstrate what we hate.
It’s actually far longer than “weeks”, more like years at this point (example: WG came back in 2019). It’s only the general public’s attention to the problems in them that is “weeks old”.
Nothing I see in any of the forum/reddit complain threads is really “new” to me, I play bgs pretty regularly and have been keeping an eye on the issues even before SL launch.
Then they don’t see it as broken and have no intention of fixing it. Sad but trust me its not like they just ignore forums
It caused some issues when we had it before. Any horde who didn’t blacklist AV would get it 50% of the time. Alliance who didn’t blacklist got extra helpings of… Kotmogu and Mines maybe? I forget.
I would honestly like to have a legacy BG queue. Just WSG, AB, and EotS. Then give us new maps for one of those modes every major patch. Leave AV in the epic queue though.
Gotta love the new social media culture. Only matters if it gets likes.
I mean, the WoW reddit has 2.1 million subs… if that isn’t a good sample size, then I don’t know what is
Places like reddit, Youtube, twitch, and even this GD forum are a fairly good indicator of the general public’s mood or opinions on common topics.
