Because they didn’t fix the core problem, which is the gold sellers buying and hording the entire supply and controlling the market.
The only ways to stop it are for Blizzard to take a serious stance against sellers which they will never do.
Or they have to completely flood the market with black lotus and make them common.

the truth is price is going up in anticipation of BWL, a raid where flasking is actually appropriate (unlike MC) and if they didn’t put in this change, black lotus would have been like 250g+ easily

well the real issue is the acceptable price for flasks, not black lotus
a flask is made of black lotus + 30 of some other herb and 10 of another. altogether flasks should be in the hundreds of gold. right now the only thing that is supporting the price of flasks is the rarity of black lotus. well i guess black lotus is gonna shoulder that burden. there’s no other option, gromsblood is like 20 silver that’s absurd dude
