My biggest fear is to have more the same that caused my friends to all quit a couple months into Shadowlands. The same friends quit BFA just barely 1 month in.
That they will botch PvP gearing for the entirety of another expansion. Just make it simple like it was in WOD. Thatâs all the devs need to do.
my biggest fear is they burn out 3 or more themes in a single expansion, i want blizzard to stick with dragons and bring that to conclusion
i loved BFA thematic i.e. but they brough old gods and azshara, meanhile we still had unresolved sylvanaseâs plans in mind
just stick with dragons and develop a great and deep story, donât overbloat the expasion with other rushed subjects you could use to make other expansions
youâre implying that 9.2 isnt a success, also they never base the next expansion after the final patch, whether successful or not, they get a feel for what we are liking and not liking then go from there. if youâre expecting them to make a perfect expansion after two failures youâre really setting yourself up for resentful disappointment, Blizzard are not gonna be able to redeem themselves that quickly, no studio can.
Tinker is even lamer, because youâre basically telling Blizzard âhey, gut engineering so we can play it as a class!â knowing full well what they did to Warlocks when creating DH.
No it doesnât lol
They Gave Demon Hunter the Demon Hunter ability that they had in WC3?
Engineering Doesnât Have any of the tinker abilities you know.
Biggest fear is they wonât go far enough with cross faction play (guilds and such) and theyâre still thinking of keeping rep grinds as character only.
Have a ton of other fears but for the health of player retention for the future; a big part of it has to come from massive quality of life changes, no one likes wasting their time grinding rep on every character they wanna dip their toe in and no one likes not being able to play with their friends/a solid chunk of the player base.
All of it. They have not proven or shown that they have learned from their mistakes, even if they have, they actually have to follow through and listen to us. If we say the goofy bs borrowed power system is going to be bad for the game either remove it entirely or just donât add it. It isnât hard.
The writing, lore, and story are near unsalvagable levels until Danuser is completely fired.
I am so worried Dragons and the lore behind them are going to be heavily retconned, like the Legion, Arthas, Sargeras, Sylvanas, the entire Shadowlands and so much more. I know the story seemingly doesnât matter to a lot of people, but it matters way more than youâd think. Any further destruction of the story will kill the game for so many people that itâs unreal.
Edit: The game in general lacks innovation. I am so tired of my casual/solo player content being Timeless Isle 2.0s for the 100th time over. I want something fun to do like Suramar again, I want more races to unlock just because theyâre in the game and something to go and get, better mounts less recycled ones too. SL was the recycling of recycled mount skeletons, it truly is abysmal. And no more grinds like anima, reputation earned needs to be account-wide or just let the important items be BoA, better yet just donât make important items locked behind reputation requirements anymore.
I will keep a close eye on gearing systems in Beta (if I am invited) and on PTR, and if the next expac continues the gear gatekeeping of Shadowlands there is no way I am going to put up with it for another two years.
Blizzard should be wise enough by now to see that millions didnât quit Shadowlands just because the Jailer didnât resonate with them as an antagonistâthey quit because the three pillars excluded them from an enjoyable power progression experience.
Shadowlands Season 4 looks to be the worst season so far in terms of progression for the average player, as nothing accessible has been announced or datamined yet, so I might not even make it through Season 4. (New questlines for transmog are great, but no substitute for actual gear upgrades.)
Illidan has not been retconned yet. He was a still an emo rage laden pita on his way out the door.
They can still break him.
Garrosh embraced his ways. Would not repent. And he got disenchanted like a crap drop in a dungeon.
Now all we have left is Illidan. Does he get 2 choices. Be nice or be dust?
well that and dragons. The retconns to comeâŠscary.
A repeat of Covenants.
And any mention of Sylvanas.
Blizz will def destroy dragons and dragon lore. Also, you can bet there will be yet another resource we will have to endlessly farm and a covenant like system where we join the dragon flight of our âchoiceâ.
Gold sinks
Timegating
Boosty Boiz
Destroying whatâs left of the lore
Suddenly finding out that VolâJin was a female-to-male trans and has been all along, which would be fine if it was part of the story or furthered the character in some way but just thrown in to show how woke blizzard has become in some short story and never actually shown in game at all or referenced at all whatsoever. (Forums still explode over it for years)
they take away all the borrowed power, then âletâ you grind it back with slightly different names.
Amouranthâs joke about getting on the Actiblizzion board of directors wasnât a joke and sheâs actually put in charge of WoW somehow.
(side note⊠trans-sexual without the hyphen is a banned inappropriate word on the forums? Really Blizz? in 2022?)
I have no fear because I have no confidence in Blizzard to make a good expansion ever again. When a glorified reputation system was sold as the main feature of Shadowlands, I knew Blizzard was gone.
My worst fear is timegating doesnât get better. Timegating is the thing that killed most of my friendâs long term interest in playing and I think it will keep hurting the long term quality of the game if it isnât fixed.
Another slow start where classes/specs feel weird and/or unfinished and the grind is a depressingly slow accumulation of some new currency or borrowed power system only after having to unlock a bunch of systems whose only purpose is to impede access to scant content.
Also, Blizzard adding even more qUIrKy mobile-game style puzzles just because.
My biggest fear is that Ion is still the game director. If he is, were getting the same systems weve got the last 3 xpacs
I donât really have a biggest fear but a collection of equal smaller fears.
I fear a thematically lame story and expansion premise that is not at all interesting and motivating. I couldnât care any less about dragons and a rehashing of one of the worst expansions ever created (cataclysm). I can not think of a single reason why my guy would even care about the dragon isles instead of sunning himself on a beach after completing his epic quest of kicking the jailer in the junk.
I fear the super cringe class proposals will somehow come true as blizzard caters to the cultiest askers the same way they destroyed my favorite race.
We already have lots of classes and races, I donât think we need any more. We certainly donât need an indigenous Irish traveller silverware fixing class.
I fear theyâll turn my raceâs capital into a warfront to cater to the whiny people who will never be satisfied and canât get over how bitter they are that the race was introduced in BC.
Bad times ahead.
NFTS , loot boxes , mobile game mechanics and boosting services on the store.
