BG 's have the most toxic players in gaming today

It seems like every battleground I enter, people gripe about everything, call people names, spending more time complaining than turning games around, and overall just being some ungrateful brats.

It’s been this way for years. People used to get along and work together but now they just b!tch at each other for 20 mins.

This is true, you play a BG and you swear you Q’ed for a game of League of Legends

Always been this way, but RBG yolo groups put regular BG toxicity to shame. Even stating it is a yolo group does nothing to stop it as soon as the first thing goes wrong. Too many people sign up for a yolo expecting to go undefeated.

mostly it’s how frustrating the game is

the pvp balance team has done a really really poor job making the game fun in bfa so those too addicted to just quit continue to not have fun but take it out on the people around them

misery loves company

Thats not why.

Sure the game is super imbalanced, but thats not what makes people aholes in BGs.

Blizzard made bgs fun in legion by having actual scaling so everyone can compete no matter the gear.

Now in BfA because bad pvers cried they removed scaling in all but name so gear means everything, so of course people will whine and attack people who make the game an auto lose because they que as a sub 100k character with no essences.

Meanwhile im 330k hp and just delete anything near and below 200k, it is sad but blizzard had to pander to bad players who wanted to roflstomp people because they have gear

They weren’t always that way. Sure, you had the occasional jerk calling everyone bad but I’d call them on it and demand they do more to win than me or else don’t call me bad and they stopped. I started doing PvP because I found it less toxic than PvE.

I find this sort of attitude permeates the entire game, really - people throw absolute hell if things don’t go perfectly, start throwing out insults and getting really personal without much justification.

I think it’s due to the fact that they’re solo-queueing into a random group - which is never a good idea if you want to maintain your sanity. You’re basically leaving
90% of your team (or more) up to a roll of the dice.

So then people start blaming the completely random allotment of players they’ve been assigned
instead of themselves, for leaving almost everything to chance.

BG chat is pretty damn chill when you move it to a new window or ignore that one try-hard that’s in every one.

Here’s an ancient video from the internet which will help educate you on toxicity within pvp.

This is why I stopped pvping some time during LK or Cata, I forget which. I’d go in a BG in greens looking to get some honor gear, freshly capped, and get shouted out for dying and not killing Every. Single. Time.

But if I just want to PvP, where to start? I think when LK let you make boss 78 gear that wrecked the 79 bracket then sucked at 80, I bailed, I don’t like the “lose your way into better gear because without better gear you cannot win” philosophy.

This is one reason (historically at least) people afk’d in bgs, they can’t hear you and probably don’t want to be told they suck because they aren’t geared and if they play they’ll just be dead weight and get called out for it.

Caveat: I have no idea how pvp gearing works now, so I can only speak of what I remember, but your complaint sounds like it’s pretty much same as it ever was, people not following objectives, people complaining, people shaming others who are underperforming, I think it’s always been like that. Toxic.

To this day I do not miss it. I have other games that I like the PvP much better than this one, and even then I don’t play those much either. HotS I don’t play anymore because I just couldn’t get good at all at that kind of game but one of the best things about it was that you could shut off communication with other players and just let everyone go ham.

If a game offers me pvp without communication I actually prefer it as I never play competitively and all I see communication doing in most pvp games is bully other teammates. In this game you kind of need it for objectives but I’ve seen that solved with message toggles for all the obvious strategic talk in other games so you still can’t talk trash, so it’s doable. Not that I expect this game to change to that, just saying it’s doable in general.

TL;DR: You officially don’t need to talk to people to play pvp games anymore. Several games actively disable talk with teammates because they know it’s more often a conveyance for toxicity than it is actually helpful.

WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER, BXXXX!

I’m so shorry, OP.

:disappointed_relieved:

Based on your claim you have never played Dead by Daylight or League of Legends?

Both are PvP - PvPers are going around killing each other, it isn’t surprising they are willing to through out a little verbal abuse as well.

I always say that PVP, no matter on which game, always bring the absolute worst of people and it’s one of the reasons I avoid it as much as I can.

Gear should make a difference. Otherwise we’re playing Fortnite. It’s ridiculously easy to get, even by doing the conquest reward each week. No excuse to show up under 100k hp. You’re just being carried at that point.

I don’t think it’s an overtly toxic player base, but I’ll definitely call people out for one thing: “KILL THE HEALERS YOU #%&$ NEWBS”
