I rarely participate in the alpha or beta phases. I don’t want to feel burned out and I like xpacs to feel new and surprising. I don’t want that “been there, done that” feeling before the xpac has even launched.

Shadowlands developer update was pretty underwhelming tbh
Nothing really “new”, looks like it’s going to be similar to BFA with “systems on top of systems on top of systems”. Didn’t see anything in the whole thing that got me “excited”.
As a side-note, just saw Dosao in Southshore vs Tarren Mill about 6 minutes ago, get rekt!

Nothing really new?? lmao, they announced like 5 things that were new.
It’s more like Legion, which was a good expansion for content.
Seemed like a pretty positive reaction for 80k people watching.
The presentation was meh, honestly I felt more “hype” for the 8.2 preview presentation. Can’t quite put my finger on it… but the dev update was just “unimpressive”.
I also keep tabs on reddit (/wow and /competitivewow), and it looks like mostly negative reactions or “after seeing the SL update, i’m concerned now”-type posts. Even over here on this forum, GD section had a bunch of “how do i refund Shadowlands?” threads suddenly pop up yesterday.
Was a whole lot of nothing really, the “highlight” of the stream was probably the announcement that beta is starting next week.
You have to remember that a lot of the playerbase doesn’t keep up to date on wowhead alpha changes or read the forums/reddit. Therefore blizz kinda has to repeat known information to catch everyone up. My wife for example only ever visits wowhead to read up on her current content class guide. Everything announced on the livestream yesterday was brand new information for her.
They hit the main systems and wrapped up the alpha with a beta announcement. I would’ve loved more information but I can see why they stopped where they did. Their next updates should be deep dives from here on.
I do have concerns though with what they announced.
I’m someone who keeps 2 mains going at the same time. One dps and one healer/tank depending on what the group is lacking. The second half of bfa has been fairly brutal for me with the times I have available to play trying to get everything in. Instead of pushing rating or pushing high keys or casually queuing bgs, I’m fighting to check off the weekly chore list and lightly dabble in each.
Ion called the anima/renown not azerite power 2.0 but it really seemed like azerite 2.0. Will I be able to keep 2 mains going and have more time to push into higher content or will I be in a similar spot as now?

I hate azerite with a firey passion lol… I don’t need infinite grinds. There used to be something supremely satisfying about completing your character near an end of a season. Now you’re never complete and it just feels lame. The infinite gear grind is also annoying. I got 3 self repairing cusisses on my shaman 3 weeks in a row. No exaggeration… One had a gushing, one had a socket and the other was just the base version. Actually drove me nuts, haven’t logged on him since lol…
A more light side note, I’m playing a bit of horde again (a buddy of mine came back as his hours got cut). I’ll have to hit you up in game for some arenas/m+. I was planning on tanking. Either pally or monk as he’s doing dk. Won’t be max for a bit though.

Getting in game crap in your weekly box is a mega buzzkill while getting that 475 voodoo totem makes you happier than your kids on christmas lol. At least that is going to get better in SL but it doesn’t change how that feels now. My dh has got a crit ring 6 weeks in a row now and it makes me not even want to play him.
Our little group grew to the point to where we made a guild a few weeks ago and now a Tuesday/Thursday raid team lol. Hit me up later and I will send you our discord. Last night we was needing a 5th for our +15 and could’ve used you lol.
I think you’re right to be skeptical but then again we haven’t seen past the surface. They removed limited runs from torghast and from what I’ve read on it you just farm legendaries there. Once you get the legendaries you want you don’t have to go back.
With renown we didn’t see if power was gated behind it or if its going to be quality of life stuff and transmog.
With anima I still don’t really know what all it does tbh.
Yeah it looks like they’re sticking with a lot of the same grinds. I didn’t watch the update (just listened to a Cole’s notes of it) and it does sound like they’re doing some things to temper it though… So hopefully.
Lol the ratio of good weeks to bad is very low lol… Like the self repairing pants aren’t even great, they have verse but mastery is the other stat lol.
The old conquest system every week felt good except for the week where you were saving for the weapons but it didn’t feel as bad as getting absolute garbage lol…
Yeah their “bad luck protection” really seems to work in reverse, I don’t understand it. Of all the possible m+ loot available I get 3 identical items in a row? What are the odds of that even if it was pure RNG. Makes no sense lol
Cool I’d be down to do some Tues/thurs raiding. My other guild went down to Saturday only and I find weekends hard in the summer. Heroic?
Also I am nowhere near 15+ ready on horde side yet

Yes heroic. We’re 10/12 right now. Several of them were undergeared and now with gear we are reaming it. We’re in desperate need of ranged dps. We finally downed vex Tuesday on 2nd attempt and tonight is illyg and then carapace/nzoth.
Tribbie is a demi god healer so I usually try to dps parse on my hpal on half the fights. I’ve gotten a 98 on the soccer boss two weeks in a row. I’m saving for an infinite stars to 100 parse it lol. I snagged a drest trinket and been using it on a few fights ha.

Not bad. Yeah you can out gear it hella quick honestly. Our group went into nzoth a couple weeks and didn’t really get anywhere. Then we got to rank 12 cloaks and all of us got two chests of loot and corruptions (before the vendor) and we basically one shot it the next week lol… Nzoth was definitely one of our harder heroic bosses though.
Seems to be a common theme I had to raid as ele one week. My dps was lower than enhance as I wasn’t practiced and not as much gear but virtually our whole raid was melee lol.
Lol I haven’t done any parsing… I always geared for PvP so my dps was nowhere near optimized (still was top 5) but definitely not parsing anything lol

SPM guild is pretty much done. Both GMs are taking a break. Most people have moved on to a raiding guild. A few of us that are leveling alts are still there, but once we’re ready to start raiding, we’ll be finding a new guild too. If we still had life, we’d be happy to invite you to SPM!
There are a lot of active guilds on Grobb and I see recruiting in trade every day so it shouldn’t be hard to get into an active guild if you choose this realm. And if you need a start with bags and some coin, hit me or Squeek up.
My advice - roll a mage first! Combined with herbs and alch, it’s a money maker and so easy to level.
I’m not even sure if I’m going to buy Shadowlands honestly. The concept is great but I’m just tired of infinite grinds. Maybe I’m just done with retail -shrug-
I leave for 1 stinkin’ year and you reprobates just let everything go to pieces

Yeah, I’m not up to another grind. Legion and BfA have burned me out on that so I’m undecided on SL too.
