BG Blitz MMR

I am not understanding the MMR at all.

I am on one character, and I am nearly 1900 after just a few wins late at night 2k range.

I play during day on a different char, and I just lost 5 matches in a row and MMR is low and I feel like I am being double punished because I am either going to win and get no points or I will lose AGAIN and lose even more points dipping below 1600.

What kind of system is this? I feel like it punishes you if you are down and you are only rewarded with luck.

essentially each character has an RNG chance for good placement matches, which is your first 20 games iirc. if your character got bad luck with placement matches and got stuck in low MMR hell, that toon is done for blitz basically until whenever blizz gets around to resetting MMR. you can do 500-1500 games to overcome bad MMR, or you can swap to an alt that has better luck in placement rounds and get to your rating goals in ~50 games.

come to think of it, they could fix this just by adding an NPC players could talk to reset their blitz MMR and CR.

Losing streak is normal, everybody has similar experiences.

So by Blitz standards I should be around 3400…

If it’s a ‘fresh’ character and you win 3 in a row, your MMR is going to jump pretty high. Winning or losing 3 match in a row cause your MMR to go up or down a large amount. So if you lost 5 in a row and you were at the starting MMR, you’re going to be in the sub 1200 range or lower.

There is some luck to it, but it’s just RNG. If you’re in a hole, it might take 5-10 games to play out of.

Games start to get pretty bad the lower you go. Would be nice if they simply capped off how low your MMR can go to a point. I wouldn’t think on it too much. Just have to grind out some games and get some wins and it will even itself out. Definitely annoying.

Not true. While annoying, it’s not that hard to play out of.

if they fixed it thats good, but the first season of blitz people were complaining it took them hundreds of games to fix a bad initial placement.

Nothing has changed, but it’s never been that bad. First season was better than now if anything. I had 3 different characters that ended up in the sub 1,000 mmr range after a few bad losses. Maybe 8-9 losses to start. Bad luck does happen and the system isn’t great about helping players dig back out. I guess it’s possible if the player isn’t good at all. But even RNG starts go favor most players over time. The big issue is the 3 wins or loss rule. If you start out low and get 3 losses, your MMR tanks.

The main issue is there is no floor, so they could fix that so lower MMR games had a more diverse pool of skill ranges. Than maybe past 1400-1600, it starts to group players more tightly.

I didn’t think it was possible to go that low. My lowest MMR, on my worst loss streak, was probably 1300-ish.

Boomi was in the 800-900 range. Lost first 9 games in a row. After the first 3, my MMR was already sub 1200. Game just spirals at that point. Queues at that range are 45 minutes ish. You just need one win at that point to start turning things around. After that I think went 3:1 to 2.4.

The big issue is just really queue times get really bad the lower you go, hence why I think a floor needs to be added. Players can still lose, but the pool at the bottom should be big and make for fast queues. It’s unfortunate because I’m sure it impacts a lot of players and many likely have no idea why. Not their fault either. Sucks.

I appreciate all the responses. The floor idea could be worthwhile for sure.

I have always enjoyed wow PVP but after getting 3 toons to nearly 1900 this season, was just going off by what I seen as I move on to the 4th toon and then circle back.

does blitz mmr placement games reset after each season or is that character bricked forever?

My DH is hardstuck 1700-1800 mmr

My Ret pally is in 2.1-2.3k mmr with a higher winrate

Btw think people are right about just starting it on a new char. My MMR on warlock is cooked right now because I’m playing with clueless people who never did a BG in their life. I lose a match, 21 points gone and dip to 1600. They lose nothing. I am basically being held hostage.

Do people not know you spin BS etc.? I am flabbergasted

I like this idea +1

Hopefully they do something because this is unbearable at the moment. Being held hostage to people just throwing games, and healers omg so many healers are utter trash. You can be peeling for them, giving them gate etc. and they are still awful.

No positional awareness, many just floating around not healing half the time, always late to every single skirmish.

If you aren’t going to heal, don’t even sign up. I rather wait in QUE longer than a quicker one where I get false hope,

I might ACTUALLY get a single heal besides a random hot.
