Honestly, I would want for BM to have the options for both playstyles.
Which is also why I think it was better in Legion on this part.
You could choose to go with Dire Beast or you could choose Dire Frenzy if you did not like all those extra pets.
I for one very much liked Dire Beasts. Especially during Nighthold with T19 set bonuses. But even when I did not have those bonuses, I still preferred DB over DF.
