BFA "Mage Tower"

What do you want to see in terms of cosmetics and challenges?

I really enjoyed Legions challenges. I haaaated Kruul and the healing challenge, but the rest were quite enjoyable. Shout out to the Sigryn challenge, my favorite!

For cosmetics maybe some new armor. I love the druid and warlock MoP challenge mode armor. Lets get some new cool looking sets.

I would like to see a 2 player maybe even a 3 player version of mage tower would be cool imho.

As cool as that would be, I can only imagine how quick carries would be sold.

Sadly i agree wish there was a way to stop that.

Now that I think about it maybe armor isn’t needed since heritage armor…

What else could be cosmetic besides weapons and armor?

Did you do the afflock mage tower? I did… it was absolute pain.

I’d like to see the Tank challenge be a tank challenge and not a dps race, I still had a great time with it, and felt accomplished but it wasn’t very role specific.

IMO Blizzard missed an opportunity with doing a mage tower type thing but for earning heritage armor. The mage tower was a cool concept that (mostly) gave good rewards ( it makes me sad we can’t use them as fully as we could in Legion, though :frowning: ) .

Cloaks. Personal banners. Tabards. Mounts. Lots of ways to cosmetically reward players.

I’d like them to remain solo challenges though.

Actually there is a reasonably easy way to mute (you can’t stop it) this: You basically treat it like timewalking with gear normalization. At that point gear is out of the question and it’s about how well someone can play their class.

I want an armor set again. Weapons were fun and neat, but it’s hard to focus on just it, and sometimes difficult to come up with transmogs, like how artifact weapons were very niche. I got lucky with a couple of mine, having completed all 36.

That said, I’d much prefer an armor set. Especially considering we lost tier sets. We need something to make up for the lack of class identity. I think a challenge mode class specific set (the exception to BFA’s rule considering it’d just be cosmetic) would be good. Something we can wear with pride for doing something challenging and difficult.

I think they said as successful as it was they plan to do somthing similar in the future. Right now they have alot of things that need to be fixed and addressed. As with the new patch it’s not so much all new content as it is fixes for the current game. If they do it for this xpac I expect it to be around 7.2 or 7.2.5

I don’t think Blizzard would really care considering MoP and WoD CM Dungeon runs for the mounts/transmog sets were sold anyways.

They could do it by class and have it interact with Heritage Armor and make a hybrid set. That way you’d have different ones for each race you can roll a class with.

So say you completed it with the Paladin you posted with. Then, when you earn the Horde High Elf Heritage Armor coming in 8.1, you unlock that combination for one unique look. Then say you roll a Tauren Paladin and you’ve earned that heritage armor you unlock a different, yet thematically similar, set for them.

Did you do it early on or never read the Mortal Coil Cheese strat?

Agreed. I did Kruul 5/6 times (not on Monk) and it was pain. Blood DK was the most pain. I had to optimize for DPS and interrupts and stuff and it just sucked. I think I swore more at the game than my brother did doing the Healing one. Especially when it took like 10 tries for Veng DH versus ther 100+ for my DK.

Heritage Armor is incompatible with such a system. Remember, each challenge mode thing does not survive the next x.0 patch. Heritage Armor is something that has to be obtainable by anyone at any time.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Some visual effect like the legendary cloaks in MoP!

Wasn’t too bad if you cheesed it with the pet.

Not sure how you could make it tank specific without dps in there. A 10 minute countdown to keep aggro off of allies and cooldown management I guess?

They may be able to utilize the AI system from Island Excursions to improve DPS/Healing NPCs.

Have the allies be a significant source of DPS but very fragile, or, like you said, make it a timed thing - keep ‘X’ npcs alive for ‘Y’ minutes.

Something other than Kruul, which was just… 40% dancing around instant kill bs, 40% DPS, 5% interrupts, and 5% survival/aggro management.

I honestly don’t like the idea of content being removed. I’d rather they keep adding immersive content like the Warlock Greenfire questline. Make a special reward for folks that do it during the current content, but not remove the essential cosmetic portion of it.

Well, obviously it wouldn’t be exactly the same. They can take the concept and tweak it. That’s a thing they could do. True story.

What I would love to NOT see with cosmetic challenges is such a vast number of community members complaining that they are too challenging, as in Legion.
