BFA is awful for alts

BFA is awful for a lot of things. I just faction changed and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in WoW in 15 years. Having to redo the entire war campaign as well as Mechagon and Azshara… ugh. Thankfully you get all the flight paths so i just unlocked one route on the war campaign. The rest are going to sit uncompleted.

I don’t think it’s that bad, I got a lot of alts at 120 now, and they are all doing dailies and emissary quests and so on.

But to be fair, I only got my alts to 120 after I got them flying…hint hint Blizzard lol.

It’s awful because every day I am doing quests, quests and more quests. I really wish non-timed dungeon raiding rewarded artifact power and better rewards. Even with flying it becomes mind-numbingly dull.

I kind of agree… The essence and recipe locked behind rep sucks. I wouldnt mind so much if they did something like panda for the increase rep gain on alts too, that was nice. I guess they assume its more time played idk…

How many need it?

Its not 100% required for most specs.

Wait until you realize that to be better than average you’ll need separate specific Major and Minor essences, separate specific azerite gear traits and talents for running casual bgs, for running M+, and running heroic raids. That’s just for ONE spec. If you have 3 or 4 specs, you’ll need to constantly reforge or accrue more gear for that. If you have 20 alts, you’ll have to farm rep to at least revered in Mech, Nazjatar, etc and do ankoan quests to get decent essences on EACH ALT. If you don’t all you’ll ever be able to do is run LFR, heroic dungeons, and do WQs.

I still havent got a great main set for the toon I play all time. I have progressed ok enough but I also have a lot I do away from home. The gear with azerite and essences I feel are very demanding just for the average player to keep up with on 1 toon let alone multiples

Because in Mists doing a rep the first time took 6 weeks of dailies. The bonus then brought it down to four weeks. Modern reps already only take two weeks.

BFA is far and away the worst expansion for alts. This is the first expansion I didnt even want to touch an alt because of everything listed above.

It seems there is a varying degree of what an ALT is or what it should be. Personally, for me since vanilla an alternate is a character you level up after your main, but that you can play competently and that can actually DO content. For instance, this xpack I have a shaman main and an alt pally that has enough essence ect to play in M+ and H/M raiding. This idea of making 15 alts and “getting a decent ilvl” may have been true and good enough for previous Xpacks but you can’t do that anymore. Being max level and having a “decent” ilvl at this point is only a small part of the game (logically looking at the total time played to achieve things lvling and ilvl is a fraction of the time to collecting essences).

With Neck and AP and reputation and essence and benthic REQUIRED to even be competitive, the idea of a true alternate is in the dust unless you sink TONS of time. I have a buddy who made an alternate warlock and he managed to get this character geared and ready in 2 weeks and said "it wasn’t too bad and I was over blowing how much it sucked. The only thing, this guy literally played 8-12 hours a day to do that, if not more, clearing ALL world quests in all zones ect. That means if a “casual” person played 2-3 hours a day (just on this one character) it would take them months to become competitive.

I miss how it used to be, get a character to max level and work on getting gear, that was it. Once you had decent gear you could do things and didn’t have to grind so much other stuff it made your eyes bleed.

I WANT to make alts, and I have tried several times, but the amount of repetitive grinding required to unlock everything (not to mention if you want to play multiple specs like dps and healing its even worse) for each character kills my desire to play. I’ve now become a main only kind of guy, why? Because I want to play other games as well and do other things with my free time besides just non-stop grinding in WoW. Hopefully next xpack will be better…

Classic is wildly popular because its much approachable not only for new players but existing players. Blizzard wants to know why their subs keep declining year in and out, is because they keep trying to remake them game. I would spend more time playing wow if I didn’t have such road blocks with essences for alts, or having to farm rep for every single alt. Rep should be shared across all toons, essences unlocks should be shared across all toons. No one in their right mind find the game fun with repeating the same stuff over and over and over again. I have spent allot less time in wow this expansion because of that. Maybe if they spent more time designing stuff for to do in game and less crap like essences it would be more fun. Just saying

To this day I STILL feel bad for people who had to grind rep to advance the “thrilling” war campaign.

I’ve done it on both Horde and Alliance, both were equally boring af.

The only reason stuff like that and essences aren’t account-wide is because of time played metrics.

It takes less time in retail to acquire most of the essences than it does to reach max level with an alt in classic. R3 is two keys…

It’s odd that you complain about repeating content, when that is literally all classic is… 15 year old content…

They know leveling alts in BfA sucks. They knew it would suck. Working as designed. But then Classic came along and no excuses anymore. That’s why they have the mindnumbing fast leveling in Korrak AV courtesy of patch 8.3 and the 15th anniversary event.

Nope not leveling alts.

Every expansion players throw a fit about how horrible it is for alts and every expansion Blizzard adds more and more catch-up mechanics.

It’s hilarious.

Imho BFA is awesome for alts seems like the complaints is people want multi mains not multi alts.

Right and you think it’s easy to level from 1-120? Not doing it lol.

You think it’s hard to level? lol

Yeah it is since you have grind all the way there.
