They can tank anything and keep themselves alive long enough to kill anything.
WoW doesnt really have the same solo power as say, a Necromancer in Everquest.
No one can solo anything as much as a tank.
And pretty much any class can solo anything that any other class can, besides tanks.
Tanks can solo almost anything, including group dungeons.
The only thing a tank cant solo is current content Mythic Dungeons, world bosses and any difficulty of current raids.
But tanks can solo a lot more old raid content than other classes can, especially in periods like right now, where Blizzard hasnt got around to making BFA and Shadowlands raids soloable content yet.
Hunter because of the speed.
Warlock if you want nearly endless health.
VW is a bit better than hunter pets in my experience, but either will do.
When I bring in alts, Destruction Lock is first.
BM hunter is my main at this point.
I can solo most DF rares on my Fury Warrior, tbh. Can solo all the Brackenhide rares, Azure Pathfinder, etc.
Fury Warrior’s self heals are insane, and the damage ain’t half bad either despite what folks might say. Been having an absolute blast in PvE and PvP with it.
Gets harder in higher ratings in PvP though, I find. I do best in RSS, rather than in 2s.
For me, Demo Warlock fulfills the master of demons roll much better than the BM Hunter fulfills the master of beasts roll. Giving your Felguard an awesome looking weapon is cool too!
It’s really close, but with good micromanagement of the blueberry an Affliction Warlock you can pull a whole quest full of mobs and watch them slowly drain while they beat on your Voidwalker. Hunters have more diverse pets, obviously, but I struggle to declare their tanking pets are more sustainable than a Warlock who is playing correctly.
Locks have like 4 health bars, but hunters have lust. I’d take the hunter with a clefthoof for a ranged class. Prot war tops them both tho. Like others have mentioned, your only limit to the number of mobs you can pull is the density of them in the area.
I wasn’t interested in soulburn, I thought it was dumb, but it is so good, the defensive value is insane. Dark pact, soulburn, healthfunnel to pet, healthstone, if you go and grab the drain life talent too, its really versatile.
This is spot on. I started in MoP as a bm hunter mostly due to a site called hunter extreme soloing or something similar. Could take on current expac rares solo, tons of last expac raid stuff or bosses others needed a group for etc. Glyph of mending, glyph of misdirect and the associated talents.
I remember soloing the zandalari warbringers which would take like 10+ minutes of constant movement and spamming mend and MD etc and folks would show up and just watch before getting a tag in.
Scalehide has 50% wall at 50% health 1m cooldown. Tanks elites with around 1m hp without needing the dip and 1.5-2m elites dipping at 50 no mend needed. 3-5 packs of 500-700k no issues. 393 iLvL, 4pc.
They die eventually if I fight something in lava long enough but I usually pull to draw out something if it can come out of lava like an elemental.
Or you can use the “better” Clefthoof with 60% wall and 2m cooldown. I’ll take the 50/1 vs 60/2. I prefer the Scalehide.
The only pet I need to Mend is Spirit Beast. No leech, no wall, but great in Raids for the fort, max and mend.
For solo anything with a wall. For group content Spirit Beast. For Arena anything with leech/wounds. BGs I like the Spirit beast, personally.
No issues with them dying when solo. Use the right pet for the right job are you tanking or supporting? Go from there they are silly.
