garrosh. definitely garrosh. he was nuanced, something that they tried to retcon out of him.
him actually listening to saurfang, killing overlord krom’gar for killing innocents, being willing to let pretty-much anyone willing to fight along side them join the horde (he said as much in war-crimes)…
garrosh was the best post-wc3 character they added, and they disenchanted him. but then again, they also disenchanted their first golden-boy, so maybe i should’nt be surprised.
Wrathion started out kind of annoying, but around BFA when he got his redesign and started to become a little more mature, I started to really like him. As of Dragonflight he’s one of my favorites overall, and definitely my favorite WoW original.
I liked Runas the Shamed, I always wish we could have found a way to redeem him and get him back to a normal whatever he was (Blood Elf?). Or at least met him in the after life.
An Orc warrior such as himself would never find honor in killing civilians in Theramore. Garrosh would have walked to the gates with his siege weapons hovering over Theramore’s ports, demanded one-on-one combat, or surrender. “That’s a nice port you have there. I want one just like it.” (So to speak.) He absolutely would let the civilians leave in an mercy-driven retreat. Any soldiers would be allowed to die with honor or become POW’s-- Because that’s who Garrosh is. He cared that the enemy had a base so close to Orgrimmar which granted them easy access to Kalimdor. It was a huge vulnberability he was going to take or destroy. And military-wise, surrendering land is a huge blow to morale for the enemy, whereas killing innocents is a rallying cry for war.
I’ve got a soft spot for Darion Mograine. He has so much drama and tragedy in his backstory but is relatively well-adjusted all things considered, and he provides an interesting contrast of morals to his former comrades among the living, as well as Arthas and Sylvanas.
