Nyx/Nicte is the greek deity/incarnation of Night
λυκόφως/ lykófos it means twilight
The idea is that it is interpreted as “the one before The Night” or “the one who announce the arrival of Night” or something like that. Also, if we interpret day and night as the cycle of life and death can be interpreted as the “Herald of Death”, or even if we associate it with the seasons, can be interpreted as “autumn”, which precedes winter, or “Herald of Winter” (being the winter associated with death in WoW and SL through the Winter Queen).
