Best 1v1 class?

What do you guys think the best 1v1 class is, for world PvP? I’m torn between demon hunter, demonology warlock, and rogue.

DH, because they’re still a super strong class currently and they eat Rogues for breakfast.

Dh still makes me cry everytime where as a lock is fair fight (most of the time cause gear difference sometimes)

Youd be crazy to not pick DH… no arguments.

I haven’t paid much attention lately, but I thought it was the other way around (for sin rogues at least).

I’d say DH or rogue are both good choices for wpvp. Rogue has the added benefit of not having to be an elf.

Wrong. I love it when DH use Rain from Above and I immediately use Vanish, the only thing waiting him down there is a chain stuns of death.

Can also use the Smoke Bomb, but I said DH counter Rogues pretty good because of Spectral Sight.

Destruction Warlock are powerful too. Their ramp up is pretty high.

Sap it instead of running away.
Easy outplay, the DH is free.

Druid. Go bear and wear them down and never die.

Anyone want to respond to this. What would you do if you used RFA, and the rogue vanished. What is the counter after that?

Try not to die for not baiting Vanish out.

You’re forgot to list the one class that typically walks away from a 1v1 versus those 3 classes you’ve listed. A Hunter.

Hunter kites the crap out of the DH, especially around trees/objects in wpvp and pretty much cause them to waste their meta and also turtle shell (or feign+camo) their Rain from Above attack.

Hunter just laughs at demonology warlocks and just ignores all of their wet noodle attacks and nukes them down.

A Hunter who’s paying attention, easily counters a rogue, especially in wpvp especially with support addons such as Spy and StealthAlerter to give them a heads up there’s a rogue in the area that just went stealth, so to keep an eye out and preferably mount up fly low to the ground and do sweeps of the area with hunter’s passive stealth detection and get the drop on the rogue instead.

Also if you use a 15% leech buff pet and combine it with a leech corruption item, you pretty much can out heal any threat in wpvp as a hunter as you can have nearly as much leech as a demon hunter with meta but 24/7.

I have a 120 hunter. I was trying PvP with MM once, and could never keep melee off me. Arenas were the worst.

MM isn’t viable in BFA. It lacks survivability, sustained damage, and mobility.

BM and SV are unfortunately the only 2 viable specs.

I use to full time MM during Legion but was forced to swap to BM during 8.1 and been BM since, as BM has high mobility, survivability (multiple self-heals and pet heal), and does nice damage in both pve and pvp.

If you want to do arenas however, Survival is the better due to being able to stick to healers hard.

It’s tough…

Dps - Feral, SV Hunters, DH, Destro, Assas, Fire
Healers - Resto Druid, Disc, Holy
Tanks - Blood DKs, Guardian

Out in the word, feral and survival can really dominate. Just kiting and getting dots up. If it were like, 1v1 in an arena setting, it would depend on the map. I don’t think anyone spec would dominate everything though. DH are very strong against a lot of specs, but can get kited all day by a SV hunter or feral.

BM damage is easily the worst of any of the dps specs in PvP. It was just nerfed too heavily to be viable. While it has good uptime, the burst is so incredibly muted. SV just does significantly more damage in instanced pvp. =/

While MM is pretty bad to average, you can play it as a gimmicky spec though. Totally a one trick pony, but you can almost one shot people with your cds.

Warlocks are great in 1v1, excluding Affliction I’d say.

But since every spec/class has counters it’s hard to say what is actually “best.”

They would of course need to know the rogue was there in the first place, since this is a WPvP thread and not duels.

A feral, dh, or rogue are the best 1v1 world pvp classes.

The one thing BM does lack in pvp, is anti-healing spells. they have nothing and are potato against a healer, as literally a healer can outheal their damage using normal full cast time heals, and the BM has nothing in their tool kit to counter them (their only healing debuff is a measley 30% 6 second debuff once every 30 seconds, compare that to many other classes who can apply healing debuffs left and right). However paired with another dps who can fill in their gaps (i.e. a DK or Warrior), they do well.

MM as you mentioned, is just that… they are literally a one trick pony, they blow all their CDs on opener and they may kill someone who had their back turned and wasn’t paying attention until it was too late… but in an arena where the opposing team is expecting a burst… it just doesn’t work if they pop any sort of defensive, then the MM is stuck without any big CDs for up to 2 minutes.

SV is the spec to go for rated PVP, they have healing debuffs, heavy damage all the time, etc.

However when it comes to World PVP and PVE, Beastmaster is the spec to go. They have constant sustained damage output (no downtime for cooldowns like MM), so they can keep applying damage nonstop, then with corruption items like mindflay and trinkets (i.e. remote guidance device) to help fill with burst, work nicely in wpvp. plus BM is the #1 go to for PVE as they top the meters over SV and MM.
