Besides QoL, why do you prefer retail?

That was one thing I thought was kind of cool. Having quests that unlocked various iconic abilities. Now I will agree some were “questionable” in terms of the fun factor, but I still loved the concept. Shame they abandoned that and just have you auto-learn things and not understand what they’re for.

That’s the thing. I was playing another MMO at the time classic was out. I heard lots of horror stories that actually kept me away from the game. Wow… got better. It improved. BC was better then Vanilla and Wrath just built off that even more. The idea of grinding again doesn’t seem appealing to me. I know that experience will to some people, and nothing wrong with that. Going back to simpler times seems appealing, but simpler means… simpler on every front. Lack of tools and addons. Lack of… graveyards. Lack of balance.

I think classic will def do some good for the game. Maybe even, take retail back to what some of the core elements of class design were about. When clothies weren’t tanks. Casters actually casted… Melee didn’t have 1,000 gap closers. Tanks actually tanked and threat was a very important piece of the game. Plate, mail, leather, cloth… they all meant something. If classic brings that back and makes it important in retail, I’m all for it.

Well, you said outside of qol changes… more mobile specs would be a qol improvement. Like for me, I love how leveling is so much faster. However, that’s more a qol improvement and how we have the chauffeur at the start if you got it once and they introduced zone scaling.

Well…I haven’t played Classic yet so I don’t know if I hate it or not.

I know I’m going to hate being on a Classic server with streamers and their rabid fans so that’s a plus one for retail.

The problem with that line is that a person can easily quantify any change as a QoL change.

Hunter ammo being removed? QoL versus an actual mechanical change. Some would call it a QoL matter, others would call it a necessary mechanical change which kept you from being gimped just because you didn’t have gold for ammo.

That’s where the “outside of QoL changes” falls apart because what one person would call QoL another would call a much needed mechanical change.

Progressss.

I don’t prefer retail…at all. In fact, I despise it. That is why I’m stoked for Classic!

What have the Romans ever done for us, I mean besides …

I think people are going to miss many of the QoL upgrades that won’t be on Classic. Some QoL changes were, in my view, downgrades - I miss visiting my class trainer - but my favourite QoL update (making mogs you’ve earned account wide) wouldn’t work in Classic because there’s no transmog there (and that is pretty much a deal-breaker for me).

I don’t hate Classic. I think it’s great that people who want to play it will soon have the opportunity. You do you.

What I do dislike is the trolls coming into GD and posting threads along the lines of “haha your game is gonna die in x days”. They are not doing Classic fans any favours, giving all of you a bad reputation.

No transmog. Game looks bad enough without armor dyes… Expect me to go go back to the clown suits?

Going back to getting killed by gnolls? Eh.

Shaman dps being dependant on wf pros? No thanks, much as I miss 2h shammy.
Leveling weapon skills, ugh.

As many good points as classic has in comparison to retail it has a negative to go with them.

Only thing I like about classic is that devs lost the debate and in doing so have to admit they have been making retail trash for a while.

Group finder alone trumiphs classic

1.) Transmog
2.) Mount tab
3.) Achievements
4.) Battle pet tab
5.) Death Knights
6.) Tauren Paladins

Edit: hmm I guess the pet and mount tab is a QOL feature but I don’t care. I’m leaving it.

I don’t hate classic and I fully intend on playing it, but I do prefer retail mainly for one reason.

I can be a worgen.

If Classic let me be a worgen I would probably ditch retail all together, but that’s not something that will be happening anytime soon.

I guess more ways to gear is the thing thats better to me. But it also means the gear doesnt mean anything so im torn.

I’m going to play both.

Classic for the RPG features and slower pace and I’ll play BFA for my RP and collection buzz.

Because no matter how good a game may be, I don’t want to play it continuously for 15 years.

I will give Classic a whirl, as I will any other expansion servers they may release in the future, but at the end of the day… I am more interested in playing new things than I am things I already played.

I’m fine with Classic as a side-game.

But… old models. None of my Horde characters are the original Vanilla races, and for good reason.

I am going to give the benefit of the doubt here, based solely on this first post. We will see where later posts go…

Things evolve and change. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad.

This toon was made about a week after classic launched. Don’t judge me was waiting for payday. I have been there. I have the memories. To this day nothing has recreated that first Lucifron kill feeling.

However I also remember how hard it was to herd 39 other wet cats I to a raid to begin. Our PvP guild and another paired up and eventually merged to facilitate this.

As time goes on, people change. So does the game. I like being able to log in, hop in a BG and log out. Or log in do a plus and log out.

I used to grind for days. Now I choose if I want to grind or not. I do not lime everything about retail. However, especially after being in the beta, it was clear classic is not for me, as a main game. Not any more anyway. I will dabble probably but nothing impactful or serious.

All of that said, I truly hope classic bri gs joy to everyone logging in. I hope it is everything you remember and more. More subs is good for the game. Both retail as well as classic.

More complex boss fights.

More complex rotations.

Challenging 5 man and raid content, that is based more on performance.

I can fly.

It’s a more complex game while classic seems like more of a social game.
