Aren’t you people finding it a bit of that the majority of long time big name wow content creators that seem to have really in-depth knowledge of the game systems are all throwing their hands up calling it stupid
Here is the thing about RP - you don’t enforce game systems around it; it happens organically
If they had made these covenant abilities swappable at the start I highly doubt the forums would be on fire with people saying “they need to lock the skills to the covenant”
It would just be people going “loving that tmog can’t wait to be a necrolord it suits my DK and my love for Marilyn Manson”
But I can still accomplish this in a flexible system. Nothing has forced me or the hundreds of people in my guild and communities to change our talents, specs, essences, etc. throughout all of BfA.
Nothing is going to force us to change our covenants in Shadowlands if they make the system more player friendly.
Role-players can still be as immersed as we want to be.
For those of us that value role-playing and immersion - we won’t choose to swap. Because we value role-playing and immersion.
I don’t understand how. People swap around like crazy today - and yet the hundreds of people in my communities don’t lose a single ounce of immersion. Not only do we not even see all the other players switching - but we also just don’t care.
We respect that they play differently than we do, and just go on about our business.
I can’t see how it benefits anyone in any way shape or form
Like isn’t there going to be a point in the game where they start to wonder what it would be like to use X ability after they picked Y?
Like what happens after the first patch rolls around and everything is boring? Are they going to just want to reroll another toon to try out a different covenant?
I’m not super happy with the current situation but serious raiders have been doing this since day one.
As awful as classes FEEL right now, their balancing is much closer than it was in the past. For a long time the gulf could be 20%+. Is Marksman suddenly trash this patch? Too bad so sad, better learn how BM plays in this expansion and fast!
I’m mourning the loss of Night Fae already but it can’t be helped, even if Venthyr gets nerfed (and boy howdy will it), that Black Arrow ish skill is just too good for a hunter to pass up.
It sucks that the divide between RP and competitive multiplayer expectations clash in this game, but they have since literally day 1 and Blizzard really should have foreseen this.
What about those of us that aren’t min maxers but like to do different content and want the best ability for the content we are doing at the time . Not just because it gives the best numbers but because it is more fun for the specific content. ?
As a MM hunter I would probably go with the Venthyr Flayed shot for most things but when I am pvping something like the Kyrian resonating arrow where you can shoot out of line of site or the necro death chakram where I can do aoe damage to other faction would be cool .
I want to experiment with different things as well as play many aspects of the game on my main toon . If I feel like i can’t do that any more and that the only way I can play the game I enjoy the way I like is by being forced to make more hunters for each aspect of the game just so Blizz can keep their numbers up then SL might be my last xpac.
And personally as it stands I don’t care about the “role play” stuff, I never had - I like the more and stuff but I’m not sitting around reading every bit of quest text
I barely did the war campaign because it was just boring quests
I don’t see how forcing me to choose between the red guys the blue guys the green guys and the fairies is anything but a gimmick
This has good sentiment behind it. Most of us are so invested in our classes that getting 1 singular ability that is different from the theme won’t make us feel like that theme. The abilities should not be restricted.
Because it does man, and that’s my opinion. I could care less whether or not you respect it or understand it, that’s the beauty of subjective topics.
Also, you took what I said out of context. I said I’m for the Covenant restrictions, but I never stated I’m for the power restrictions, which is the main topic at hand here. People like the idea of comitting to a faction if there aren’t 3 convoluted power systems tied to it, actually.
You have a flawed way of looking at this subject actually. You seem to think that people want to flip Covenants just for the heck of it, where in fact you are just wrong. Most people want to switch covenants because there’s power gated behind them. If there wasn’t any power restrictions we wouldn’t be having this converation.
Bellular waits until he thinks people are leaning one way or leaning another and then jumps on the bandwagon. He’s waited a long friggin time to say anything. And to be fair, Blizzard has said they didn’t want feedback on that specific feature as a whole until the beta, but I’m still very suspicious of his motivations.
Turnberry, if one is to understand the great mystery, one must study all its aspects, not just the dogmatic narrow view of the Silver Hand. If you wish to become a complete and wise leader, you must embrace… a larger view of the Light.
Uhh… I mean I really don’t want to argue with you about this. It’s pretty obvious that people will make judgements if you choose to play the game wrong. Playing one class vs another class is considered an acceptable choice, playing a bad spec when you have the choice of playing a good spec is another matter.
Ok then we should be able to understand the powers of all of the covenants whenever we want, not just a glimpse while we level through a zone for 2 hours. Glad we agree on this.
Honestly? That was where my mind went first too, but as I started to dig into the issue there were much bigger issues than min maxing for content that are far more concerning. Everything from Battle pets (yes they are covenant locked), mog, storylines, mounts etc. are all covenant locked. In legion the worst you need to see most of the content was one of each class. Here you’re potentially looking at four of each armor type… maybe more if they go completely nuts (discussed elsewhere).
Play alts then if you want to experience it all, I know I will be for sure. There’s more to playing a game than number crunching.
If it doesn’t work out they already said they can scrap it and give us a talent row, so there’s that. I think that sounds boring… but we’ll see I guess lol.
