Social etiquette is all over video games. We even have sub cultures. But this has nothing to do with the topic which is about how crappy it is to have a 3 hour spawn time, no immunity window and a random spawn location.

Well the topic seems to indicate that trolls are the problem here, so we’re diving into what specific behavior in this instance is considered trolling.
Eh. I’d call it for what it actually is. Just inconsiderate behavior. It’s not what I would consider trolling unless they’re first calling it out with 10% hp left.

But why is it inconsiderate to kill a mob if they can? How long need they wait before it’s not inconsiderate? How many people need show up before they can all begin?
You should update the title then, it’s misleading.
Competing for rare spawns is as old as wow.
This one has many factors to fix the issue:
- Taggable by everyone in the zone
- Set spawn times
- Purchasable item that tells you where it spawns
- Elite, has more HP
I think with all of these the issue is largely mitigated. Sorry you have to engage with other people.
Killing this thing was such a trivial non issue I was able to do it 3 times per spawn when I farmed the mount.
This argument is a bit of a slippery slope, because there’re always going to be people who don’t make it in time for whatever reason, and anyone left out is going to want further safeguards. These safeguards don’t even work all the time given this context. Someone’s still going to wind up getting there just as it dies and demand something extra to give people ‘more time’. Eventually you just have to accept it for what it is and that you may not be able to reliably get to it every time it’s up. It’s still a rare spawn, after all.

I think you’re just inept at using words properly
I shared the location literally as it spawned because I have the item and I got to him when he was at 50%, many didn’t make it. Thats why a immunity window is important.
I will also add the only reason i made it was because I was right beside the spawn he popped at.

Because it’s a mount rare. Norm is to call out when you see it spawn.
How long is a piece of string? Probably somewhere between 1-3min?
Numbers are irrelevant. If you’ve waited an appropriate amount of time, whoever isn’t there is SOL and that’s on them for not moving fast enough.

I dont see any reason why there should / needs to be any sort of immunity protection. Even with the examples given here today.
There is a built in system with renown vendor that lets you see the location as soon as it spawns. If you are in a centralized location as the crystal shifts. There is almost zero chance you will miss the tag.
Your inability to be prepared for how the designed mechanic plays out doesnt indicate trollish behavior.
There is no time limit on when you need to have this completed by. Its a rare event. Its not like a person is entitled to it.
Frustration is one thing.
This is enjoyable collections.

Right, you get it. Just start with this next time though instead of trying to force some weird idea of “social etiquette” in the situation that doesn’t need it.
There are always raid groups for this in LFG tool that help each other. I recommend joining one instead of not joining a group.
Well I was RIGHT beside the spawn and barely made it.
It has a 3 hour respawn window, many people have jobs so if they miss 1-2 windows they are out of luck. An immunity window (or if they item told you the spawn location before he spawns. Would be perfect as it would allow ANYONE ANYWHERE in the zone to make it in time.
If he had spawned AT ANY OTHER SPAWN LOCATION other than the one he did, I would not have made it and I was on the little island where beledars pride spawns which is pretty textbook central point of the zone.
