Being Okay With Addons Going Away Is Putting Way Too Much Trust In Blizzard

Well, now that you’ve thought about it, let me just reconsider my stance…

Nearly the entirety of my playtime since 2005 has been without addons except for non-combat stuff like Titan Panel and Bartender. The most combat-related thing I’ve consistently had is DBM, which is one of the first things they expressed intent to include in the game.

If that kind of customization is directly tied to addons that make the game worse for the vast majority of players, why wouldn’t you want to limit it or remove it?

Could you provide a source showing all add-ons are going away? Thanks!

How much more can we customize this game. They solved bartender, bag non, move anything into a single UI.

What else do they want to customize.

This is all way too much crying. When we are actually heading into a nice cleaner phase.

There’s still a need for addons that allow radically different UIs, adding things like new bar graphics and skinning windows and stuff. There are some really nice chat addons, too (like WIM, which pulls whispers out of your chat box and gives them an instant messenger UI). Those should stick around, and by all indications from Blizzard they will (even if the current alpha breaks them).

This thread offers so much more substance than the others. Thank you.

And why exactly do you need to do all this ?

Why do we think an Xbox player will do all this ?

Addons aren’t going away. They are just changing what information is available to them. This will simply be like the early days of CTRaid before it had access to everything that DBM and Weakauras have.

For the same reason people transmog their armor. It’s preference.

Xbox players might not want it but that’s moot.

Yes. We need as many threads as we can. They can’t ignore all of us.

The only real reason for addon was combat efficiency and they solved that.

Other than that it is personal opinion and blizzard may or may not entertain it.

You’d be surprised how big the Xbox community is.

Every or most of Xbox player has game pass. If they bundle wow into that. Now every Xbox player has access to wow.

That is lot of $Cheeze and skins to sell. And that is where they are heading. Addons
Was an obstacle to getting into the console world.

Vanilla and TBC are considered the best versions of WOW in history, so why do you assume that Midnight going back to the roots of an addon free gaming experience won´t shine as well?

There are too many addons that ruin the game these days, let´s talk about all the AH addons that bots use to ruin the economy, the auto move and act addons that let people play afk and so on.

We need to get back to a WOW that is played by actual humans and not their tiny shady programs.

Of course they can.

Whether or not they want to play WoW is another question altogether. The last time Xbox game genre variety was good was back in the days of the 360. Ever since, Xbox has been a watering hole for generic FPS games and the kids that like them… console players who were interested in other genres were forced to move to PlayStation, Switch, or PC.

Not only that but the game should be made slower than it currently is. Everything happens so fast that many players feel threatened by it. Making classes simpler, slowing combat a bit and removing the necessity of having so many addons in combat would be positive for the game.

Depends on how they adjust the content and specs. I play other MMOs without addons and its fine

Speaking only for myself, I’ve never used addons so I don’t really have a serious opinion about it. Hopefully my gameplay won’t change in any way since I have no need of them.

That said, I do sympathize with those of you who have relied on them to play your game and I hope you can find something that works for you eventually.

That’s fine. Just leave the option open for people that want more customization, but go ahead and nuke the combat addons.

You guys are way too hung up on the idea that addons and customization mean stuff solving mechanics for the players. I’m talking about UI customization via addons, and that does nothing negative to anyone.

FWIW console would be fully compatible with addons as it all relies on the ingame API’s to function. So I really don’t buy this excuse of XBOX being the reason why they’d crack down on addons…

That and uh Xbox is doing terribly in sales compared to literally everything else as of late lol
