Being a Karen

I have grown really tired of the Pet battles. When you have to go up against the Pet tamers, and their pets have 2 times the HP and take 2 turns to your one. Just not fun and I am really tired of it. I used to enjoy the pets/companion, but it isn’t fun after Pandaria. And it hasn’t gotten better.

I do not see a clear difficulty rise after Pandaria.

It kinda varies up and nown a bit here and there - some battles are easier. some harder.

Some of the Family battles are hard, for sure.

Are you using the strats from Xu-Fu’s https://www.wow-petguide.com/ or making up your own?

I see you have completed all the continents except Shadowlands, and the dungeons except the Celestial Tournament and Blackrock Depths, so you’re getting along pretty well!

If the current version is 7.3, I believe what he said is correct. Since then, the difficulty of pet battles has been continuously decreasing, and most of them are optional.

The pet trainers havent been getting harder. Some just have a very large chance of RNG that cant be countered when going for the family achievements. If you are looking to just beat the trainer there are plenty of strats that knock out most fights in under a minute and a half.

There was a significant decrease in difficulty after Shadowlands (which had some very hard and/or RNG tamers). The tamers in this expansion require fewer pet-specific strategies and can often be beaten just by using pet-types that are strong against them.

Every trainer fight has a strategy and composition that minimizes or compensates for RNG to the extent that they’re practically brainless and highly reliable.

If you want to roll your own, you have to realize that you have chosen to figure out those comps and strats yourself. Those fights are not going to roll over for you because you tried hard. You can’t brute force them. You have to plan counters, avoidances, and attacks to hit their weaknesses and duck their strengths.

Yes, I do have to check for help. And I find that ridiculous that we have to go outside of warcraft to find out how to win. When it’s a flying we should be able to try different magic pets, not have to research what will kill it. Just irritating.

I understand your sense that we shoiuldn’t have to look up Xu-Fu’s - or, more generally, Wowhead - to figure out how to get past challenges in pet battles, or other areas in the game. I have felt it myself. But a game that was simple enough that every player could figure out everything for themselves could not be rich and complex enough to keep millions of us playing.

Having said that, however, I still don’t think it’s accurate to claim that we have to go to Xu-Fu’s or Wowhead. I don’t. Working out the Family challenges is the only truly fun bit of pet battling left for me, and I wouldn’t spoil it by looking up the answers in the back of the book.
