I have 3 drives in this PC. Wow is on the 3rd one (G drive) which is a m.2 SSD. All drives are SSDs. The computer isn’t new by any means, Ryzen 5 5600, geforce rtx 3060 but it has always ran wow with no issues. Windows 10 for the operating system as I really don’t want to go to 11 unless forced.
I was more concerned about potential corruption with an older OS. I’d still try installing it on another drive though
I can’t start the game either but that might have something to do with me being on a 737 several miles in the sky flying towards California.
Something like this happened to me before.
I know you said you deleted Bnet and WoW files, so I’m sorry if you did this and I misunderstood.
What I unfortunately had to do was delete ALL games from Battle Net completely and then reinstall WoW. It’s like it thought one of the other games was updating and that game had priority, but everything else was updated.
Sometimes the desktop icon for battle.net is corrupt, Try clicking on the Battlenet icon in the world of warcraft folder and see if the launcher and the downloader start working again.
I don’t know why this happens , other than it somehow tells the launcher not to point to wow.
Hope this helps.
I have tried on another drive, no luck with that either.
I have seen issues like this on tech support site, one issue was the antivirus wasn’t allowing battle.net access. Searching my memory, I think one of the issues was antivirus permissions for agent and battlenet.
Sometimes the antivirus has no permission ui and you have to wait for an update, but most have it.
This is NOT my suggestion, but I have seen other people say sometimes the world of warcraft folder the launcher points to. has been changed to read only and you should right click and check properties and make sure it is still read and write.
Wow doesn’t usually like us messing with folders, but I have seen this fix the issue for people before.
Ooof… Then I don’t know what to tell you dude. Better try the tech support forums and see if you can get a blue over there… (Do they even have blues over there anymore with all the staff cuts?)
Best of luck.
