Battlenet app censorship needs some editing

So logging out yesterday we wished each other a good night.

Me: “Hope you end up having a better !@#ht than I did!”
Her: “Have a good !@#ht

Now, I do see what their doing, and why their doing it… but I think their doing it a little TOO much here.

Game has MUCH bigger issues than this, which deserve priority over this, but it seems like they just created a brand new problem with the censorship system they added to their chat system.

I have a niggling suspicion this isn’t going to be addressed anytime soon.

Before everyone gets caught up on this word. The definition:

“causing slight but persistent annoyance, discomfort, or anxiety.”

can also be:

“bothersome or persistent especially in a petty or tiresome way”

I wouldn’t go around screaming it, but it is a legitimate word

It also censors the word “something”. Yes, it’s going too far.

I think he used that word purposely though which makes his troll post all the more interesting.

Yeah, I mentioned someone working over!@#hts, and it did the same thing. I ended up typing it again, thinking my left hand slipped up a row… Had to type it overn ights, just to get it to send properly.

The first thing to do with ANY Blizzard software has always been to disable the “mature language filter.”

Incoming ban for circumventing the censorship filter

Used purposely to make a point.
Not a troll post, I’m pointing out that while censorship does have a place (arguably) blocking words that just contain N and then an IG in them is way overboard.

I couldn’t even spell out N and then an IG to specify that that was the issue in my OP.

oh i see - it was the combination of letters that trigger that - well that is a little overboard. I am pretty sure there are a lot of words that start with 'n ig." Amazing they won’t even let me type that here.

Huh. The things I miss out on because I turn the filter off in everything.

It’s like how they created 40 different mustache options for humans and gave some other races barely any attention.

Their priorities are certainly off.

It doesn’t even have to start with it. It can apparently be anywhere in the word, and it will censor those three letters.

Knight
Benign
Enigma
etc, etc…

Man, you mistype McNuggets ONE time, and the Blizzard chat filter is all over you…

I can’t imagine ever being so offended by a word that I would require a significant portion of the language censored so I wasn’t reminded of it.

i turn off my language filter, my friend keeps hers on to see what gets censored. last night she told me that “passed” got censored… this is beyond stupidity at this point.

I hate how much I laughed at this

That really is overboard, yeah. Hopefully Blizz does something about it.
