Battleground Honor Gain Seems Low

Dude, we’re looking at 10-20 hours /played per item here

That’s a part time job, for one item! For one crappy item!

I don’t even have 7500 honor and i’ve been pvping 2 hours a night all week. There should be a middle ground between easy and impossible.

This! Possible =/= easy. You should be able to grind casually for a month and get a full set. That’s reasonable

Adding to the thread for visibility. I have noticed this as well. I have been grinding non stop and still don’t have enough for one piece.

I just spent 2 hours in queues to face 3 alliance premades and get about 250 honor. My sub is cancelled. I’m not paying for a game I can’t play.

People are pointing out that honor seems to be messed up.

In OG TBC I always capped out alts while leveling. I made 3 total over the Xpac. I normally 1st went for weapons, trinket and Ring. (As that was what 75k honor would allow…I have to double check that but meh lazy to look up honor cost.) I would have to farm the rest of the gear at max level. I would get 3-4 items a week. People are having issues getting 1.

It’s possible. You just have to put in some effort for it.

And other people have already posted proof confirming that honor is working as intended.

…for blue gear, right?

You have your answer. Blizzard will never address this, and never did. I think the meta was to bank honor to t5? anyway, for better rewards.

Yes. It’s always been junk, but just enough to draw subs away from titles who handle pvp rewards, and bgs, better.

Honor gear was in a weird place in TBC.

The game launched with t4, t5, and technically even hyjal available at launch. Season 2 didn’t start until BT launch, at which point the S2 gear was only on par with T5 gear.

This time around we’ve got equal ilvl gear with the current phase of content, which is a blessing for PvPers. It’s just that the current honor system is absolutely insane due to just how weak the rewards are compared to the effort required for dungeon gear. PvErs run dungeons for entry level gear, and PvPers run battleground for entry level gear. Time investment should be similar in an ideal world, but currently it’s so far out that it’s disheartening to even try to farm it. Some people will just quit over it due to realizing the grind isn’t worth it.

Like, the meta right now is to drag an EoTS on as long as possible and achieve the maximum flag caps. It’s super cheesy and definitely not what the original developers intended from our current system. I understand this is totally blizzlike, but from a gameplay standpoint it really should be changed

TBH as someone that was a younger kid/teen during TBC that did mainly bgs. I think the current honor rate is pretty close to what it was during TBC. I remember during av weekends running Nath Strat (Nath public vent) pre-mades all weekend long having 99% win rate and only getting few pieces of gear.

A few things should, but I got the impression #nochanges really meant: “now sit down, be quiet and be lucky to eat your porridge, kid”

that’s because it is low

They didn’t unless they were super casual and didn’t run dungeons. It isn’t like Retail where you expect to have the full set of BiS gear for the activity to start doing that activity. The game wasn’t as toxic so back then if M+ existed groups wouldn’t have expected you to be in 210 ilvl gear to do a M0. Gear progression would be seen across the entire arena season rather than just the first two weeks. This made it easier for newer players or late joiners to compete with established players as they wouldn’t be quite as behind.

Players are used to gear coming thick and fast these days. Back in vanilla TBC players were willing to grind for a single piece.

A single heroic dungeon took a considerable time to complete and that was if you didnt wipe to trash mobs.

But when you got that piece it was a huge sense of achievement.

I think there can be a middle ground found. Just got to be careful not to make the gearing too quick and lose that feeling of achievement.

As well. Pvp gear was not as popular even on pvp realms. Too see a player in a full set was rare.

I agree. I have just hit 70 and started pvping, and the honor gains seem much lower than original TBC. ~150 honor for an AB win is not correct. AV used to give 1k-1.5k honor per match with AV perfection. These values are too low.

EoTS is currently super bugged.

Flag caps are giving WSG honor for them (2 HKs per cap) and victory points are giving 2 honor per 330 for alliance and 21 or 0 per 330 for horde. That’s right. Horde randomly get 0 or 21 honor depending on the game, but alliance always gets 2. Absolute joke.

Whole battleground is busted.

Please developers do something about battlegrounds. They do not afford the correct amount of honor, and it makes the PvP community less inclined to play a major component of end-game content.
