Battleground Holidays and Realm Adjustments – March 10

A nonissue.

Add me to the list of people that does not agree with this change.

This was a really pointless change that nobody asked for. We don’t care if westcoast BG holidays end at 9PM.

Too little too late Blizz- servers should be same server only pvp til Naxx, like in Vanilla.

Cutting NA into two groups isn’t enough, game’s already been ruined. Kinda scary how many Vanilla haters in this thread acting like we ever had such massive battlegroups in early WoW- you guys should have stayed in retail where you belong.

Guarantee if they didn’t do this, this thread would instead be people complaining that the BG holiday starts when they’re still sleeping because they’re on the wrong coast.

Implying that the hardcore PVPers aren’t already playing 24/7.

LOL
When we first got battlegroups, which came in 1.12 with crossrealm BG’s, we had a whole whopping 6 realms in battlegroup Vengeance.

And some other We would probably very much care that they kind of got screwed on BG Holiday time because it was 3 hours out of their timezone.

Does your not caring invalidate their caring?

Blizzard - it’s simple. Fix your mistake, or lose money. If your intent was to kill 10-49 WSG and AB - then well played.

Please PLease PLEase PLEAse PLEASe PLEASE CHANGE BACK THE BATTLE GROUPS NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW. THIS IS KILLING SUB 60 PVP. A HUGE PLAYER BASE WERE TALKING HERE.

Can’t wait to see what they do with the future TBC experience, wouldn’t be far off to expect a Donor shop where people can buy full Vengeful Gladiator Gear and skip the 1800+ preliminary requirement for current season Shoulders, or even just buy Gladiator or Rank 1 titles.

The promise of a pure classic experience was only ever a meme, you look back at the earliest change to the launch of WoW Classic and they implemented Sharding so the top 1% of the twitch streamers would feel safe while leveling, it’s not much different then BfA Warmode.

See sharding with the overall way the rolled out classic HAD to be done, I’d have argue they not launch it the way they did and keep closer to the old population caps if a smidge higher(3-3.5k would still be packed but not like sardines) because the world of azeroth was never meant to fit that many people in their zones at once. I do really hope TBC goes well and without cash shop for any of that jazz.

Any thought to lumping oceanic into west coast pool? Latency should not be a huge problem and it’s a win on all levels for everyone? The playerbase could care less about bg holiday times, we just want to have bg ques that pop.

I would ignore him, he keeps pasting that same response in every thread he enters.

No idea where he gets the nonsense about cash shop and donor shop.
Think he played one too many pirate servers or something.

You can’t do that in retail even, and you’re sure not going to be able to do it in a legacy game.

As for pop caps, by TBC the realms were already capable of handling 3k
they began lower.
It also had a steady long term influx of players that eventually peaked WoW at like 14 million subscribers.
Which of course cause a need for all the realms they added during that time, and the battlegroups expanding to some 20 realms each, at peak.

Over time of course that died off, slowly.
That resulted in a lot of realm mergers, but that did not come for a good while.

Classic on the other hand, was destined to get hit with a big curiosity/visitor influx that would burn out rather quickly and then stabilize into the core population.
I think they wanted to avoid over serving, only to merge later.

Sometimes, on some realms anyways, mergers get caustic, with the players anyways.
It sounds dumb, and it is, but in some of the retail realm mergers, the people coming from the realm that lost it’s name got treated really crappy by the resident realms players.
Sometimes you can not figure people.
I can understand though from a dev standpoint thinking Yea, i dont want to go and be the guy to build that situation from day 1.

I got a screenshot someplace on an old drive of the 1st night BC Portal opened, there has to be near max realm pop in hellfire framerates and lag were garbage. And at the same time is was like omg this is cool, Everyone is here, except the part were you could barely move because you were lagging so much.

While I can’t speak for all, I do know that I’ve gotten used to things resetting at a certain time PST and doing the math to figure out the time EST for my servers. Maybe splitting the servers was overkill?
