Battleground Blitz is Dead – And Blizzard Doesn’t Care

Battleground Blitz is dead, and it feels like Blizzard doesn’t care at all. From the start, the mode was supposed to be a fresh and exciting take on battleground but instead, it’s been strangled by a trash MMR system that punishes good and mid-tier players, while only helping the uber lucky.

On top of that, the blatant win-trading that goes unchecked has turned Blitz into a joke. The system is so fundamentally bad that it isn’t just failing to support the mode t’s actively killing it. Players who actually want to play and compete are getting driven away.

And that sucks, because I was extremely excited for Blitz. It had so much potential to be the future of casual and competitive PvP, And if Blizzard doesn’t make real changes, soon it will be a wasted mode we all look back on as a missed opportunity.

The maps really ruin it for me.

Love the flag maps, BFG is fine. The node maps other than that are horrible. Nobody understands how they work, they don’t rotate, and just run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Honestly, the mode would be better with maps SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED for Blitz.

Aside from that I really wish we could see some more Battleground specific tuning for some classes that is separate from Arena tuning (Though they don’t ever do that anyways, so it is what it is.)

Meh it’s like anything rated. After the first week everyone’s season is over. Most of us just want the elite sets. After that who cares.

I assume this implies that the only way to get uber lucky in blitz is to get like a streak of 10 wintraded wins in a row? OR from what I’ve personally experienced just play death wish fury and steamroll team fights?

Lots of people figured that BG Blitz was doomed from the start. Not sure why anyone expected it to be anything other than a slot machine simulator. The 20+ minute queue times alone make soloq an objectively bad system. It was a waste of development time. Blizzard should’ve just thrown a separate progression system onto random bgs (something like the trading post) and called it a day. It would also be random bs, but at least you’re not waiting 20+ minutes to get 10 minutes of game time.

I figured BG Blitz was going to be a toxic and infuriating experience when all signs were pointing towards rating being simple wins/losses with little-to-no rating protection mechanics (I don’t think BG Blitz has any rating protection mechanics at all, which is a wild decision for a ranked team-based PvP mode you can queue into solo).

Reaching 1600+ rating and then immediately nosediving to like 1100 because of constantly getting stuck on trash teams who don’t know how to play and having gameplay saboteurs on your team is NOT fun.

Feels fine to me? Had 5 minute ques at 2k yesterday… That’s awesome.

Unfortunate but happens in all modes of PvP. Even epic BG’s with premades. I wish blizz would do more but ultimately not a blitz specific thing.

I would love to see changes or tweaks every single season. Actually dumb and annoying that they don’t.

Regardless though. I’m enjoying blitz honestly. Good addition to the game that just needs a bit of love.

Oddly enough I feel I have more agency over the outcome of a blitz on devastation, even over healing as preservation

my POV: Too many other PvP forms in retail, and too many other PvP forms across non-retail combined with devs’ dedicated neglect; you could spot this rolling dumpster fire all the way back from Dragonflight.

Blizz: a new EBG, a training mode THAT IS NOT FOR BLITZ’s, and lowering the elite to 2300 is unbelievably yet not at all suprisingly tone deaf - just fix what we have! I get it, it’s not trendy, it’s not diverse, it reeks of toxic competitiveness, and isn’t forwarding the story of WoWs Peculiar Purple Pie Person of Porcupine Peak but if you just fix what we have it’ll do so much.

Get rid of regs (10s), replace with unranked BGBs, change current BGBs to solo Q only, and replace RBGs (10s) with group Q BGBs. I know consistency is never your jam Blizz but I promise this would be huge.

Or don’t and let it rot - I’ve already changed my sub and am not holding out hope that PvP will be at all enjoyable in Midnight. But hey - I am sure the new 40man will single handedly save everything - just like you planned.

Yeah, every season. Not just season one and then, oh, you have to wait until next expansion! :persevere:

Actually insane this hasn’t happened. Doesn’t even have to be big ones. But it’s a new freaking feature. Iterate and perfect man. Kinda really shows how small their PvP focus is sadly.

Hopefully it’s good. Assuming it’s good a brand NEW epic battleground is a win but it’s also a very long overdue one. We should have a new epic battleground every expansion, not one every 15 years.

It bothered me how they referred to it in the Q&A too like it’s PvP against easier opponents. It’s not PvP. People don’t queue up to play vs bots, they want to play with and against other players. Don’t get me wrong I think a training grounds type thing is a good thing, but the way they talked about it made it sound like this is fixing PvP for new players when it really won’t if all it is is permanent comp stomp.

Yeah that change only affects those who even care about trying to reach that rating, which most PvPers just do not. Sounds like a good change but I never cared about getting to 2400 rating before, this won’t make me care about getting to 2300 now.

I am so frustrated with how out of touch the developers seem with WoW’s PvP. I actually like Blitz but the queue times make it hard to justify actually playing it and the lack of overall rewards and carrot on a stick for PvP doesn’t help either.

They kinda did the same thing with Shuffle in DF. It makes people feel like the first season is the only one worth playing.

As a healer, the players ruined it for me. I got sick of people trying to blame me as a scapegoat because DPS want to fight on roads, are outclassed by opposing DPS, don’t stick to strats etc and threaten to report me as soon as something goes wrong when I did nothing wrong.

If there’s a tank in the party, usually the tank has priority over me (or the other healer) for being the scapegoat. It’s a shame, because a lot of times I would actually have players psting me after matches telling me I did a good job. So truly some bad eggs spoiled the bunch, but I have a friend irl who was mass reported and auto banned for a few days before it was reverted, and he was never refunded game time. It does happen.

I quit as soon as I got my 1800 last season and vanilla priest mog (I love the Horde one, looks perfect on my undead). It was stressful with people calling to report players. Some players were innocent and yet players were still calling to report them.

I just do random battlegrounds every now and then, and even still people say report XYZ which is insane. I do not recall it being that bad when I played back in Shadowlands.

What has happened to this community?

They made it easier to report at any turn, so people use it to troll.

…You’re right. And that’s terrible. There’s a fine line between trolling and getting someone banned who has invested considerable amount of time into their characters/account, and are paying a sub fee to play.

Make sure to report people who say to report someone. What they are doing is actually against the rules and I’ve seen people get a suspension from doing it.
Some people just can’t handle that they just might lose some games. And it’s always the worst players who are doing the complaining, too.

There’s people of all walks of life playing this game.
Some are mature, some immature.
We know the immature ones once they open their mouths.
I was in a few games where players were blaming our healer/s. I don’t mind if I never got a heal. Because I know that it can be hectic in any Bg games.
So many variables can happen at any given time.

Well said. And as far as reporting players who call to report others (even if it’s not myself) I do; That’s actually good to know they get suspensions for it, because it is driving people away, and whenever a healer dips- that’s a huge blow to the already long queues for DPS players.
