Battle visage is terrible, make dracthyr form better not visage!

Continuing the discussion from 12.0.5 PTR Development Notes:

This change is absolutely terrible and feels like yet another spit in the face to those of us who like being dracthyr and who don’t like visage

Rather then trying to push us to be elves or humans, I want to see proper support for our base dracthyr forms with more transmog options

You don’t see Neverwinter shaming people for wanting to be Dragonborn. Nor do you see games like DOS2 shame people for wanting to be a lizard person

Visage doesn’t even make sense lore wise and serves no purpose other then to be an excuse for blizzard not to support more transmog

At this point just make Evoker available to other races if people are so deathly scared of anything scaly. People being human or elf Evokers would be better then having our draconic identity taken away from us.

I want hats and chest armor, not a battle visage

You don’t see people playing Neverwinter.

Anyways. Nobody is shaming you for wanting Dracthyr form. But there are A LOT of people that would like to play Evoker, but not want to be a Dragon 24/7. It isn’t that deep.

Don’t use it then?

Very based, OP. I genuinely think they’re just being lazy by not giving us proper transmog in Dracthyr form. I couldn’t care less about the wings, tail, and horns clipping through the chest, legs, and helm. I want my mogs on my true form!

Your new Haranir Warlock looks badass!

I like him. I just wish the males of the other races looked half as good.

It’s optional, my friend. It’s good for those of us who wanted it. You do not need to be opposed to it because you want better dracthyr form customization.

If I could play a blood elf with horns and the ability to glide (outside of making me be a trash DH) I would, however the game insist that I be punished with a lizard form if I want these things

How is battle visage terrible just because you don’t like it? I have not played my evoker since DF and this is probably the one thing that will get me to play it, looking forward to this.

It’s also an optional racial, so why are you so concerned with putting it down?

  1. it is OPTIONAL, dont use it if you dont want to.
  2. this change does not mean further change(like may additional armor pieces showing or new customization options) will never be added for the drathyr. All this does is make Evoker closer to non-Evoker Drathyr in that they can now stay in their Visage form even in combat(barring a few spells)

the more people that play a race, the more likely blizz is to expend time and effort giving more options for them at some point.

If battle visage is what gets more people to play evoker, and as a result more people end up playing dracthyr, then dracthyr are more likely to get extra customization and options added further down the road.

if people refuse to play dracthyr, then they will get tossed in the pile with the mechagnomes to be forgotten about.

This change is OPTIONAL so you don’t need to use it if you don’t want, and will result in more people playing dracthyr, which benefits you in the long run if you want more customizations.

I think they should do both… improve transmog etc for Drac form, AND give players this option.

Hats, absolutely. What I wouldn’t mind seeing is some dracthyr only armors and dogs, because they’re body type is so different. Of course that will cause all the non-drac to freak out.

I think this is a good thing, people are just getting worried this will cause them to not attempt Dracthyr transmog. I hope they don’t use this as an excuse to never fix the model.

Dracthyr should not have been a race.

Evoker should have been a class, available to every race.

When you fight as an Evoker, you should turn into a Dracthyr, like how Druids turn into animals.

Everything would have been so much easier if Blizzard had just done that.

But they did not. Instead they sold a glorified moonkin as a whole race, and will spend the rest of their lives trying to fix what they ruined without addressing the fact that they were wrong in the first place.

That’s way too much work. The only way to make dragn form acceptable is to make entirely new models and rigs that don’t use any of the current skeletons or animations and also allow players to be all sorts of dragon shapes including the “centaur” types with 4 legs and 2 arms.

Anything less than that is a bandaid on a open wound.

I really do wish that whatever they decide to do regarding customization, they at least consider giving better proportions to some of the males, Humans with their gorilla forearms and Night Elves with their goofy clown hands and tiny waists are the worst aggressors in my opinion.

I hope OP gets the options they want.

I’m thrilled at this news. I love Visage form. It’s my favorite model in the game. (I could do without the huge forearms and hands. I wish male visage form was proportional. Same with BE male)

My wish list:

  1. Using Soar as dracthyr and landing as visage.
  2. Using dash forward and reverting back to visage (or simply staying as visage while I dash forward)

Anything that gives me more time in visage form is welcome.

More options are always a good thing for the game. Don’t assume they won’t also cater to you. Blizz already announced that a bunch of races will be getting updates to have more options in the future.

It’s terrible because it prioritizes those who want to be glorified humans or elves over those of us who actually want to be dragon people

It’s also a waste of resources and time, resources and time that should be put towards dracthyr transmog support instead

And it would serve as more ammunition to use against players like me who want transmog support because “evokers can be visage in combat now!”

I gave you a like, because I agree that Battle Visage and pushing the elf/human thing is a horrible idea for Evoker.

And it is ridiculous that people try to shame others for playing a Drac. God forbid someone just think it’s cool. Not everyone has some weird fetish these crazies made up in their minds about everyone.

But…

Visage does make sense. Their power comes from the Aspects. The Aspects have a Visage.

I’d rather they stopped wasting their time on this tech and updated other race customizations and gave Dracs more colors and barbershop gear options.
