Banned for RMT: UPDATED

If crusader escaped the ban wave, most of the bans are probably legit.

this “false ban” stuff is way out of hand. one way or another, you got boosted or did the boosting or just bought the mount/achieves. quit crying and lying on the forums as if it will do anything. You broke ToS & you pay

Yep! I was caught with the same BS accusation. Blizzard has absolutely no evidence because I never did anything they stated. What is this communism ?? How can they get away with this blatant abuse of power

Sometimes you have collateral damage when you’re dropping bombs.

It doesn’t mean they missed, it just means they’d probably rather deal with the appeals because anyone who is truly guilty wouldn’t bother appealing it and it would further expose them/would be a waste of time.

Sucks OP if what you say is true. Collateral stuff happens and I’m sure you’ll get it sorted out. But for the record, saying you’re wealthy a bunch of times or that you have a family is irrelevant. No one cares and even if you were loaded, boosting for money makes you more loaded. No one wealthy says “I don’t need to make money, I have some!” They’re wealthy because they do a lot of things to make money lol. Obviously I nor anyone cares personally, I’m just saying.

Also about flark, I too have ran into him in rbgs and when we won someone pointed out he was streaming and raging. I went to look and he legitimately did berate his entire team for like 20 minutes. It was absurd. Guy is like a mini crusader lol.

I genuinely doubt anyone’s getting banned because they played viewer RBGs at 1600-1850 with maximum 1-3 games with a random person. There’s not enough GMs left to be checking to see if someone might have spent $20 for 2 quick wins at 1750. This was a huge ban wave and there seems to be about 100 fingers being pointed around. There was some def shenanigans going around lately at the upper brackets.

I don’t know much about the streamers specific cases, but I’ve been in the “in crowd” of people doing last minute pushes for title spots for rank 1 and old school gladiator.

Everytime I’ve seen something like this, the culprits were chain queuing for hours, 100+ games minimum at insane local hours, like 12am-5am, and while I know people have good reasons to bash on blizzard, these particular bans almost always stem from real offenders.

In some cases additional people get caught in the wave, but from my experience the teams that handle the high profile banwaves like this take a close look at the appeals.

When I appealed during mine with a few others, text was allowed but no links, vods, or youtube clips. I was extremely specific about everything because just like most people caught in these, we had a feeling we know who it was in relation to, but although they were a good player we told them no bs.

Our bans were overturned really quickly.

I’m not saying they don’t screw up, or some people don’t get swept up in these, but from my experience (even in the days where their “gms” took a huge cut in quantity/quality), these high profile ones get a real human eye to double check the chat logs, the queue sessions, account activity, and the input logs for those games.

Esp when they’ve shown serious leniency to full time wow only streamers in the past, if they stick there’s definitely something they see we don’t.

Thankfully the rated pvp boosting should mostly be gone in DF due to the new gearing system.

Shadowlands pvp gearing sounded great, didn’t work.

What is rmt?

And where are people finding this?

In lfg I only see websites and not people asking for tokens/gold

I tried to appeal and basically got the same message this morning that was in the original email, just starting with “Upon further investigation
”

Pretty ridiculous considering I know for a fact that I did nothing, so there can’t possibly be any legitimate “investigation” being done. I resubbed a few weeks before the season ended as well and hadn’t played for months prior.

Yea everyone that appealed got the same automated message lmfao.

Was obviously talking about last season and seasons before that
.

Looks like they are lifting bans now.

UPDATE: My first appeal was denied, with a similar canned response most have gotten. I submitted a second appeal which was much more detailed. I included links to screen shots of my match history, chat logs from the people I had queued with during the week I had resubbed, screen shots of past achievements and dates earned, links to twitch VODS etc etc etc. Everything I could possibly think of. The sad thing is, most of this information is readily available to them if their team cared to do a proper investigation in the first place.

I received a response stating that my appeal had been escalated to their “special review team” for proper analysis as to whether a false positive had resulted in my suspension. This is somewhat hopeful, but again
I don’t have much faith in their system given the fact that I’m even in this position to begin with. This also makes it quite clear that these bans were handed out based on algorithms, or something of the sort. No actual human analysis seems to have been performed to decide who gets banned, or if there was it was extremely poorly done.

I’m updating this thread because there are many others who have been wrongfully banned. I think it is disgusting the way Blizzard has willy nilly tossed out these bans, many of which are undeserved, without proper process to determine who is actually guilty. I also find it frustrating that all the awc players and high profile streamers (for the most part) have all had their suspensions IMMEDIATELY reversed, while nobodies like me are swept under the rug. Hopefully I will be able to report back soon that I have been unbanned.

UPDATE: Received the following email:

Greetings,

As part of our ongoing effort to combat exploitation and abusive behavior, Blizzard recently closed a World of Warcraft license on this Blizzard account.

After performing an additional review of the evidence considered in this action, we’ve determined that this closure was an error. We are reopening this license for play and hope you will accept our sincere apologies for the mistake.

It is our mission to make Blizzard a fun and safe environment for all players, and we are truly sorry that we affected your experience in this fashion. We are always refining our processes and we will learn from this experience as we continue in our ongoing efforts.

We look forward to your safe return to the game, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Blizzard Entertainment

I’M FREE! Thanks to everyone who had words of encouragement. There are still a lot of people wrongfully banned. Don’t give up, keep pressuring them if you know you’ve done nothing wrong. Send as much detailed information as you can in your appeals. Somehow, against all odds, it can be done.

Also
to those of you who called me (and others) a liar, said I deserved it, and basically white knighted for Blizz sitting on top of your high, Rival, horses. Up yours!
