Mid rep runs today, I get the boot and ban. I have been playing the game legitimately making gold how I know how through farming, AH and trades. Didn’t even have a lot of gold. Was literally scraping by to get my alt to a point to where THAT character could help me farm gold. I was even gearing that prot paladin around the basis of not having flying at all yet (for Shatar dungeons) because I couldn’t afford to fly to the dungeon. I have done nothing outside the games TOS at all. There hasn’t been a single bit of gold I’ve made that hasn’t come from casual acquiring through play, farming, AH or trading.
Perma ban or temp suspension?
No one on the forums can help you sadly, and all you’ve provided is the equivalent to an “I’m innocent” statement.
If you’re truly innocent and you sincerely don’t think you’ve done anything wrong, the best thing you can do is to appeal the decision asap.
I have appealed and it’s a temporary suspension but quite the dampener regardless as I’d like to know how to avoid this and I’m MT for guild missing 2 weeks now. For nothing…
Best bet is to make a post here.
R.I.P.

Sadly, even if you didn’t know, if you traded something with someone who had used gold they bought else where, this is how Blizzard would have gotten you.
Yeah the whole trading thing is wild IMO, and what people are getting hit with. It is intentional decision and will likely be upheld, but you can try to appeal if you want.
I don’t know why they are targeting people who trade, never entirely read into it but the concept of being able to be actioned for trades with illegal gold is wild to me. You basically have to use the AH to protect yourself.
Great, I gave someone some gold cause they said they were too poor to afford flight points. I hope I don’t get banned for that…
Second this.
If you’re telling the truth, the CS forum will typically help. If you’re lying they will also call you out without giving all the details. They sometimes even tell you what happened, even if they believe you’re telling the truth (i.e., you traded with someone who RMT’d and accepted their gold as payment). There is no sure-fire guarantee that they’ll overturn your suspension over that, but they may have mercy on you if you make a compelling case that you didn’t know it was RMT’d gold – of which I have no doubt you couldn’t have known that if it wasn’t a friend who told you they RMT.
Typically, they gather evidence for quite a while before doling out punishments. My advice is to not do F2F trades anymore for anything you’re selling and just use the AH. Also if you find out you received RMT’d gold, I’d try to determine if it came from a friend or guild member and then cut them off from any economic activity involving you from here on out.
How can they possibly expect someone to know where someone’s gold came from? If they buy an item/service from me with dirty money how is that in any way the recipient’s fault ?
I don’t think it’s the recipient’s fault, but Blizzard has openly stated several times that they do not care and to be careful who You commerce with.
I do know there have been people who have been given a break. On the few times I’ve heard of that happening they have lessened the suspension by a week and told them to be more careful.
Who’s to blame?
Everyone that pushed the company to do something about bots…
That’s right…
I blame you…
…
All of you who pushed the company to do something about the bots…
You’re all to blame… ![]()
giving us a tl;dr that nobody asked for about how poor you are is exactly the preface for someone buying gold. Shut up.
It’s easier and cheaper to indiscriminately ban anyone who trades gold than it is to invest money into actively hunting down and permaban the people who are intentionally engaging and buying/selling gold.
Potentially the stupidest policy possible in an mmo that requires you to work with randoms to get thing done. Anyone in your guild could be buying gold, so even doing trades with them can result in an autoban.
Feel for the OP.
How can Blizzard ban an innocent player but can’t ban Bots and Gold Sellers?
The Real Classic Playerbase needs to stand up and demand Blizzard take action against cheating players.
you dont get banned for trading with anybody.
You do if they are trading you illicit gold. You can go to Customer Service yourself to see people being banned for this.
you most def can get banned trading large amounts of gold
Far too many unnecessary details not related to the topic. That’s the mark of someone not telling the truth.
We’ve been over this.
Stop buying gold if you want to stop the bots.
